1. Philippine coronavirus cases surpass 61,000 Rappler, 16 July 2020
As of Thursday, COVID-19 cases climbed up to 2,498, bringing the total number of recorded COVID-19 cases to 61,266. Meanwhile, the death toll reached 1,643, while total recoveries have reached 21,440.

Senator Christopher Go is pushing for the Bureau of Immigration to make its services better and make it more responsive to the new and increasing challenges. He added that the immigration system needs to be upgraded to protect the welfare of the citizens living in the country from challenges such as child sexual abuse and cross-border terrorism.

According to the Philippine Consulate General’s offices in San Francisco and Los Angeles, only Filipino citizens, whether natural-born, naturalized, or dual citizen, are allowed to enter the Philippines. There were claims that some Filipino-Americans who are travelling to the Philippines using their United States passports have been reportedly denied by Airlines.
