Educate the Montana public about important changes in U.S.-Asia energy sectors, advancements in sustainable energy research, and the energy market’s contribution to economic development and impact on the global environment.

Advance constructive dialogue among leaders of the business, policy, civic, and scientific communities who have differing opinions about Montana’s energy future.

Promote business engagement between Montana-based and Asian energy interests.

WHAT CAN AMES ACHIEVE?

THE GOAL OF AMES IS TO SHAPE THE

STATE OF MONTANA’S STRATEGY FOR ITS ROLE IN FUTURE GLOBAL ENERGY MARKETS.

THE ASIA-MONTANA ENERGY SUMMIT (OR AMES) IS A STRATEGIC INITIATIVE LED BY THE MANSFIELD CENTER TO ADDRESS THE

COMPLEX ISSUES SURROUNDING THE FUTURE OF ENERGY AND HOW IT SHAPES OUR ENVIRONMENT, OUR WORLD, AND OUR STATE.

This multi-day forum will bring together international thinkers, business leaders, and policy influencers to discuss energy trends around the world, critical developments in energy technology and policy, and opportunities for cooperation between the United States and Asia.

The summit aims to raise public understanding about energy, promote communication between stakeholders, and help shape the pathway forward for Montana in this critical economic sector.

Keynote and panel speakers will include energy experts, business leaders, and policy influencers drawn from industry, government, research institutes, and academia from Montana, across the U.S. and the Asia-Pacific region.

STAKEHOLDERS

The Asia-Montana Energy Summit (AMES) is a strategic initiative led by the Maureen and Mike Mansfield Center to address the complex issues surrounding the future of energy and how it shapes our global environment, economy, and society.

businesses, academic & thinktank communities, and civil society promoting public education, engaging in constructive dialogue, and encouraging collaboration around these vital issues.

Like previous Mansfield Center conferences, the AMES expert conference is free and open to the public. Conference attendees will include students, professors

& teachers, civic leaders, media representatives, business executives, policy officials, and energy stakeholders. Additionally, with the conference’s focus on the Asia-Pacific region, leaders from Northeast Asia interested in energy development between the two continents will also participate.

ORGANIZATION

AMES is hosted on the campus of the University of Montana with plenary sessions taking place in the Dennison Theater and breakout sessions in the Gallagher Business Building. The Summit is supported by many partners across the state of Montana.
