ood afternoon families,There are a few important changes I would personally like to make you aware of, on Saturday 15th September; we were going to have a day of prayer here at the College, followed by a lunch and baptism. Unfortunately due to the rate of illness throughout our teaching staff over
the last few weeks, we have had to postpone this event and will have it later in the year (early in Term 4).
We have a number of students who have spoken to us about baptism. If your child is wanting to be baptised here at the College, please tell them to come and see either myself or JP so that we can organise a special day for all of them.
We are all part of the same family of God and we ask that you continue to pray for our families – we have many in need of your prayers and support.
Have a wonderful long weekend - remember that tomorrow is a public holiday for APEC. There will be no classes or teachers here tomorrow, so enjoy the day together as a family.

ISION FOR THEFUTURE! A wise man once said, “Where there is no vision, the people perish.”(Proverbs 29:18) Today one of the buzz words in leadership teaching is “vision.” I believe that vision is having a mental image of a desired direction and outcome. I also believe that this concept can be easily translated into other areas of life. If I asked you, what is the vision for your life, family or work/business? What would you say?
Today I’d like to propose that our students/your child/
ren need a vision. A vision for the future. One that gives them a clear sense of direction and purpose. One that will enhance and help them discover their meaning and place in life. I strongly believe that young people want to do the right thing, make a difference, and impact the world.
A school can only help them aspire to something greater. The biggest influence a child has, is their parents. The manner in which you praise, instruct, and manage their behaviours will set them up for success or failure.
In short, what is your vision for your child today?
How are you facilitating their spiritual life, emotional development, will they adopt a heart of service to others or even just a healthy measure of self-worth and confidence that will inherently lift them up when times get tough?
I honour the work you as a parent do and we are praying for you. If you desire to continue this conversation, please contact us anytime.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Making my own schedule and priorities secondary to the wishes of those I serve
That means we will:
• Put others ahead of myself
• Find a way to help, not a way to hide
• Be ready when I’m called
• Be glad for the chance to serve
• Check with the right person before I make commitments
We will be learning about how to be available over the next three weeks. Please support your child in developing this character trait in their life.

UST SOME REMINDERS• Winter uniform is to be worn during Term 3. That means boys need to wear their long pants, long sleeve shirts and their tie.
• If you are picking up your child/ren by car, then you need to pick them up from the car pick up line, which is the last driveway leading to the back of the school.

uring our literacy time each morning there is a real energy buzz with students moving to different classes and settling down to work. There are amazing work samples produced each week and this is a sample of one:Recount by Brandy Tupua, Year 3.
This cold morning I woke up at 7 am to get ready for a busy day at school. Before the school bus arrived I had to make sure I was ready.
First I ate a delicious breakfast with scramble eggs, toast and spaghetti. I had a warm shower and washed my long wavy hair. Then I got dressed into my school uniform and waited patiently for the bus.
The big, noisy, crowded bus arrived and I walked quickly to my set seat. I played with my scoubie string with my best friend. When the bus stopped at school we all walked slowly to hang up our bags on the hook.
The loud bell rang and it was time to go to class. We had fun at worship singing beautiful songs to God.
Next we had our Spelling class where we read out our homework sentences. Nicholas won for having the best sentence. His sentence was good but really gross talking about squishy brains.
Afterwards we went back to class to read our favourite books. Soon it was recess and I was feeling very hungry. I ate a hot, spicy sausage roll from the canteen.
In the afternoon we watched Vege Tales and it was funny. It taught us a lesson to tell the truth and never tell a lie. At the end of the day I walked to the buss line to go home.
Today at school I was busy learning, reading, eating and playing. I enjoyed my day especially with all my friends. I can’t wait to go back to school tomorrow.
Junior School Art Exhibition Results
This year we had a wonderful display of art, 85 entries in total. A big thank you to our Senior school Art teacher - Miss Stephens for doing the very difficult job of judging the entries. It was pleasing to see the students work, especially those who had obviously put a lot of planning and thought into their entries.
Congratulations to all students who entered the exhibition, we loved seeing your work.

hank you all for a wonderful combined effort. Every child in the Junior School completed the challenge. The library borrowing has increased and this will impact on literacy. Thank you Mrs Lawton for all your help in finding the right books for us to read.I have already been asked by quite a few students if they can begin reading for next year. The 2008 challenge started 1 September. Just keep a list of the books you read so that they can be entered onto the PRC website next year. Students celebrated their efforts with an icecream party on Thursday. Well done to each and every student.

t has been an interesting week in the Middle School. With the cold and flu season upon us, we have gone through the week without Mrs. Tompson and half of the week without Mrs. Worker.I have been delighted to hear how well-behaved the students in these classes have been for their relief teachers. Well done to those two classes.
On Tuesday, the Year 8 classes combined their PDHPE classes and went down to our local park for a large game of ‘Capture the Flag’. It was awesome to see so many smiles and so much fun being had.
Uniform is becoming a concern again, especially with girls wearing incorrect footwear. Please ask at the Office for a student handbook if you are unfamiliar with the dress code of the school. Another issue that is becoming worse in Middle School is the use of non- uniform bags. There is an official school bag and it is part of our uniform. Please ensure your child is bringing their school bags. Commencing next week, students with the incorrect bag will start to receive warnings.
From Week 10 to the end of the year, incorrect bags will result in detentions being issued.
There have been a few concerns this term with some of our students, regarding their welfare at home and school. I’d just like to state the obvious to all of our parents and guardians out there: Listen to your kids.
Forgive your kids. Love your kids. I know that sounds like a simplistic idea and I don’t pretend to know the circumstances of other families but I have had to work with a lot of kids this term that would be healthier and happier if they received more of these three simple things.
Please remember to contact your child’s Home Room Teacher if there are issues we can help with or monitor.
We care about your children too.

ear 11 and 12 Music completed their final internal Assessments for the Performance component of their HSC on Friday the 31st of August.Year 11 had to fulfill their requirement for the topic “Music For Small Ensembles” which entailed putting together a group featuring themselves on their chosen instruments.
The students worked very hard and produced outstanding pieces.
In year 11, Deniz Celik performed a Baroque piece
“Minuet” on the saxophone, duet style with Viviana Capote, while Jane Ah-Cheung performed on vocals in a quintet
“All For You” Nane Nooroa sang a simply spine tingling duet with Damee Kea “Angel,” and Samuel Cockburn performed “Little Star” on the piano with his band; Craig Nelthropp – former MVAC student (drums), Damee (bass), JP – Chaplain (lead guitar), and vocalists Nane, Maggie Marsters (yr 9) and Jane. Samuel performed an outstanding accompaniment and instrumental for the group on piano and continued with a solo vocal rap, concluding with a flourish on the piano.
All the year 11 students were real ‘stand outs’ and will now move to their year 12 performance electives for year 12 next term.
Year 12 music presented their performance electives in Popular Music, Theatre Music and Media Music; Film. The girls have really excelled and have improved out of sight since this time last year. They performed 3 songs each, including their compulsory. Jane Lino’s last performance will be included in her repertoire for the HSC and Zillah Dragovski will be submitting a composition portfolio, written score and recording. Zillah began with “Crazy” a popular music genre, followed by “Colours of The Wind”
from Pocahontas the musical, all on vocal finishing with
“Pour De Adeline” from a film soundtrack, which she performed on piano.
Jane Lino continued the morning with “In My Own Little Corner” from the musical ‘Cinderella,’ followed by “Get It Together” accompanied by Jean Pierre on guitar, and finishing with “Don’t Take it Personal” with back up singers Ita Ralago, Eleni Ratukalou, Tarryn Robson and Zillah.

n Wednesday morning we had a class meeting with one of the Senior classes along with quite a few teachers. We spoke to them mainly about manners and bringing their books and equipment to class every day.Would you believe that many students come to classes nearly every day without a pen or without their textbooks?
Some say they have lost their textbooks, so we are asking for your help. Can you look in their rooms (if you’re game) - under their beds, in the bottom of their wardrobes - for any extra textbooks they may have accidentally misplaced?
Each of these textbooks costs nearly $50 and we keep them for an average of five years before we buy new ones.
Another issue with the Senior students is their lockers.
We have given them all lockers but they need to supply the lock and key. Can you please make sure this is provided by next Monday, or we will supply them with one and charge them for it? We need your support in keeping them on the track at this time. They’re tired and so are we, but the end is drawing near.
These girls will be performing for the Board of Studies in the College hall this Wednesday for the HSC. These performances were of a very high standard and I am sure will be fantastic.
Special thanks to helpers Mr Walsh, Craig, Reagan, JP, Miss Smith, Miss Lelilio, all the student performers/
accompanists and especially, members of the audience..
