Terms Information
Course Registration Before the start of the semester, students must register for the classes that they want to take.
Course Evaluation At the end of each semester students are required to provide evaluation of their professor’s lectures.
Seasonal Semester Classes are conducted for about a month during vacation periods to enable students to fill up the required credits.
2. Terms
Leave of Absence
(Application) Permission for leave of absence is available on need basis, during the semester term.
(Leave of absence must be within 15 days.)
Readmission
(Application) Permission for readmission to school will be given after the period of leave of absence.
Academic Probation Academic probation will be given for the students who receive an average grade of less than 1.75. (This may cause disadvantage for visa extension.)
Expulsion Student will be expelled from the university if he/she receives 3 official warnings for misconduct or if he/she does not pay the tuition fee in due time.
Withdrawal Depending on the student's will, he/she can withdraw his/her admission from the university.
Transfer of Major
Students must have a permission from the academic staff if he/she wants to change his/her major of study.
Double
Majors/Minors In addition to the student's original major, student may take courses from another major. This is mandatory for the completion of double majors.

8. Korean Proficiency Test (LEVEL TEST)

All foreign students (except exchange students) are required to undertake the Korean Proficiency Test.
Undergraduate students are required to complete Korean Ⅲ course, whereas graduate students should pass Korean Ⅱ.

1. Student ID Card Issuance [Office of Student Affairs, NaRae Hall 2nd floor, 250-6031]
KNU student ID card provides a convenient on-campus as well as off-campus support to students through its multi-functional properties including: ID card, banking and debit card, rechargeable transportation card (T-money), access to campus buildings, etc.
ⓐ. How to issue a student ID card
First, visit the Chuncheon Immigration Office and apply for an alien registration card.
After issuance visit the Shinhan Bank, KNU branch with your passport, a photo (3cmX4cm), and the alien registration card. Student ID card will be issued within 2 weeks of application.

If you lose the card, report the missing card immediately to Shinhan Bank and Security Company (SECOM).

2. Certificate Issuance [Office of Academic Affairs, NaRae Hall 1st floor, 250-8272]
Office of Academic Affairs, located in NaRae Hall 1st floor, issues the Certificate of Issuance.
There are two versions : Korean and English. Students may apply for issuing the certificate by: in-office visit, e-mail or post-mail. Certificates can be issued by an automatic certification dispenser in NaRae Hall 1st floor, 60th Anniversary Hall 2nd floor. Fee for issuing the Korean version is 300 won, English version is 600 won.

2. Alien Registration
Any foreigner who wishes to stay in Korea for more than 3 months is required to visit the Immigration Office and apply for an alien registration card within 90 days of arrival.

4. Reporting for a part-time Job
Undergraduate students (D-2) can work on part-time basis up to 20 hours; and graduate
students can work on part-time basis up to 30 hours during the semester. Students can have up to 2 jobs. (There is no restriction during the vacation and holidays)

4. How to Move
ⓐ. Call a taxi or a van : If you don’t have many luggages, it will be the best choice.
ⓑ. Moving by yourself : You will need to manage everything on your own, however it will be the most affordable way.
ⓒ. Consult a moving company : Call the company to request a move. 2~3 workers will come and wrap your belongings, move your luggages, etc. It is the most convenient way but can be costly.

Because of the limited intra-city bus service routes in Chuncheon, many people prefer taxi service as an alternative.
