4) As sport media nexus develops,
the two circles move closer together.

Boston
Nexus in Korea

Broadcast rights

Australian Football (Rules Football) League
( Australian Rugby League
Leagues prefer to limit internal competition between clubs (to minimize internal competition in order to maximize external competition)
Leagues must maximize the competition between
Leagues are engaged in competition with competitor sports at national and international levels

Value of rights
Sport has become the major property for global media organizations…2009년 3월의 한국도 (WBC, Yu-Na Kim) 미디어기업의 지출과 수입에서 스포 츠프로그램이 상당 부분을 차지함(News Corporation, TW AOL, Walt Disney Company, Vivendi Universal..)
스포츠 관점: 올림픽(since 1984 LA Olympics), 월드컵 (since 1994 US) Table 4.1, .4.2, 4.3, 4.4.. 2010
Vancouver Olympics
김연아 사례: pre-game, short, free, gala show, post-game, press conference, 상암 구장

Recovering rights fee &
maximizing exposure
Acquiring the rights to broadcast sport > selling advertising space and time : expected ratings
Expected ratings >
High ratings/big audiences > high advertising rates
Considered factors:

Sport sponsorship & media
Sponsors are prepared to pay sport organizations to promote their products and services depending on the number of
consumers they will be able to access.
Sponsorship patterns: buying ads. in sport programs on TV,
buying the title name of games/leagues/stadiums/arenas, buying ads. space in stadium/arenas, owning teams, getting uniform sponsorship or official suppliers …. < depending on the size, quality, and frequency of media visual (audio) exposure (TV, internet, DMB)
The more global corporations are, the more global sport events they are financially involved in…
