We demonstrate a passively mode-locked erbium-doped fiber ring laser by using single-walled carbon nanotubes as a saturable absorber. The laser generates soliton pulses with a center wave- length of 1561 nm, a linewidth of 2.7 nm, and a repetition frequency of 21 MHz. The pulse width is estimated to be 940 fs by taking the time-bandwidth product to be 0.315 for bandwidth-limited sech
2pulses. The pulse repetition rate can be adjusted up to 18 kHz by using a delay line of 1.2 cm inserted in the cavity loop.
