Objectives
This study, we were to enhance antioxidant activities of Curcuma longa Linne leaves extracts by ultra high pressure extraction process
Materials and Methods ◦ Materials
Curcuma longa Linne leaves was extracted by water extraction at 100℃ and 60℃,
70% ethyl alcohol extraction at 60℃ and ultra high pressure extraction at 500 ㎫ for 30 minutes at 60℃.
◦ Methods
In order to measured antioxidant activities, we measured total phenol and flavonoids contents, DPPH free radical scavenging activity and reducing power.
Results
Total phenolic acid contents from WE, EE and HPE were show as 12.28, 11.36 and 21.82 µg/ml, respectively. The flavonoids contents were measured as 14.44, 15.49 and 26.11 µg/ml, respectively. The extracts from ultra high pressure extraction showed the strongest free radical scavenging activities 72.3% in adding 1 mg/ml of sample, compared to other extraction processes from WE and EE as 64.05 and 62.55%, respectively. The reducing power of the extracts for WE, EE and HPE were estimated as 52.89, 61.87 and 67.54%, respectively in adding 1 mg/ml.
