1. 이 월보는 기상청과 공군에서 관측한 일별 고층기상자료를 수록하였으며, 여기에 사용된 시각은 UTC이다. 자료의 보정에는 태양광선에 의한 온도변화, 기압계의 저온효과, 지구곡률에 따른 상층풍 오차 등을 고려 하였다.
This publicaqtion contains daily upper air observed in Korea Meteorological
Administration(KMA) and Korean Air Force(KAF). The time used in this Report is the Universal Time Coordinated (UTC). The data are corrected for temperature error due to solar radiation and the effect of low temperature on the anerod capsule and curvature of the surface of the earth is taken into account in the computation or upper winds.
2. 표준등압면 고도(Standard Pressure Levels) :
지상 자료는 비양시각에 관측된 값이다. 월보에 사용된 표준등압면 고도는 지상, 1000, 925, 850, 700, 500, 400, 300, 250, 200, 150, 100, 70, 50, 30, 20, 10 h㎩ 등이다.
Surface data are observed at the time of release. Standard levels in this Report are surface, 1000, 925, 850, 700, 500, 400, 300, 250, 200, 150, 100, 70, 50, 30, 20 and 10 hPa levels. In the rank of special observation, the special observations are compiled.
3. 권계면과 최대풍(Tropopause and Maximum Wind) : 권계면은 아래와 같은 방법으로 정의된다.
Tropopauses are defined as a way that.
(1) 제 1권계면: 기온감률이 2℃/㎞ 이하로 감소되고 이 고도와 그 이상 2㎞ 사이의 평균기온 감률 이 2℃/㎞를 넘지 않는 최저고도
First Tropopause : The lowst at which the lapse rate decreased to 2℃/㎞ or less provided the average lapse rate between this level and all higher levels within 2㎞ did not exceed 2℃/㎞.
(2) 제 2권계면: (1)의 기준과 같고 제1권계면 이상의 어떤 고도와 그 이상의 고도 사이의 평균기 온감률이 3℃/㎞를 넘을 때
Second Tropopause : The same criterion as in "1" and is recorded
if above the first Tropopause the average lapes rate between any level and all higher levels within exceed 3℃/㎞.
(3) 그 이상의 고도에 대한 그 이상의 권계면은 (2)의 기준을 만족하는 고도가 발견될 때마다 정의된다.
Farther Tropopausers at highe levels defined by the same criterion as under (2) whenever they are found to exist.
최대풍은 고도 500h㎩ 이상에서 나타난는 30㎧ 이상의 가장 강한 바람을 의미한다.
4. 기온과 습도의 유의고도(Significant Levels with respect to Temperature and Relative Humidity):
비양시각은 UTC로서 자료열에 기입되어 있으며, 온도와 상대습도의 유의고도는 WMO의 EC-XIV중 제 17호 결의 사항에 따랐다.

EC-XIV of WMO.
that the base of the layer occurs below the 300h㎩ level of below the first tropopause, whichever is higher.
(3) 인접한 유의고도 사이를 선형내삽하여 얻은 기온이 300h㎩ 고도와 첫번째 권계면 중 먼저 도달한 고도보다 낮은 고도에서는 관측된 기온에서 1℃ 이내, 높은 고도에서는 2℃ 이내로 벗어나는가를 확인할 필요가 있는 고도
Levels which are necessary to ensure that the temperature obtained by linear
interpolations between adjacent significant levels shall not depart from the observed temperature by more than 1℃ below the 300h㎩ levels or the first tropopause, whichever is reached first, and by more than 2℃ above this level.
(4) 인접한 유의고도 사이를 선형내삽하여 얻은 상대습도가 관측값에서 15% 이내로 벗어나는가를 확인할 필요가 있는 고도
Levels which are necessary to ensure that relative humidity obtained by linear interpolations between adjacent levels shall not depart by more than 15% of the amount of relative humidity itself from the observed value.
5. 바람 유의고도(Significant Levels with respect to wind) :
바람의 유의고도는 국제전보식 32.3.1.1(WMO Pub. No. 306)에 나타나 있다.
Wind significant levels are confirmed to 32.3.1.1 of manual on codes (WMO Pub. No. 306).
(1) 지표면 고도와 관측 최고 도달고도
The surface level and the highest level attained by the sounding.
(2) 위의 두 고도 사이를 선형내삽한 값에서 풍향 10˚이상 그리고 풍속 5㎧이상 벗어나는 고도 Deviation levels of directions by more than 10˚and speed by more than 5㎧.
(3) 풍향이나 풍속 두 요소중의 하나가 (2)의 기준값에서 벗어날 때는 최대로 벗어난 고도가 양 요소의 보조 유의풍 고도가 된다.
Levels of the greatest deviation for both parameters whenever one parameter deviated by more than the limit specified (2) above.
