M: Hello. How may I help you?

W: Hi. Could you recommend a cap for my five-year-old daughter?

M: We have different kinds of caps. Which one would you like? We have animal-shaped caps and ones with an animal picture on them.

W: Animal-shaped caps? I like that. What kind of animals do you have?

M: We have rabbit and tiger-shaped ones. These have ears on the top. Which one do you prefer?

W: The one with rabbit ears on the top looks so cute! I think my daughter will like it.

M: Good choice. Do you want the cap with the number seven on it or without?

W: I’ll buy the one with the number on it.

M: Okay.

W: Daniel! You can’t throw away those bottles like that!

M: Oh, why not?

W: You should separate the clear plastic bottles from the colored ones and all other plastic waste. It’s a new policy.

M: Why do I have to do that? They’re all the same.

W: No, they’re not. The clear ones can be used for different purposes.

M: Oh, really? I didn’t know that. Is there anything else I need to do?

W: You also have to peel off the labels because they can’t be recycled.

M: I’ve never done that before. I’ve only washed inside the bottles.

W: That’s just the basic step! Now you know all these ways to throw away plastic bottles properly, right?

M: Yeah. Thanks for letting me know.

W: Greg, have you been to the new ice cream shop over there?

M: Oh, I heard it opened on Monday, but I haven’t been there yet.

W: Why don’t we go check it out? They’re upgrading the sizes of ice cream for free this whole week.

M: I’d like to, but I just had a dental treatment, and my dentist told me not to eat anything cold today.

W: I see. Today’s Wednesday, right? How about tomorrow?

M: Well, I’d rather not. What about on Friday? I still want to be careful with my teeth until tomorrow.

W: Sure. Let’s go there after school that day, then.

M: Jane, you look different. Have you been working out these days?

W: Actually, I’ve been doing yoga for the past three months.

M: I see. Any special reason you chose to do yoga? Maybe for peace of mind?

W: Not really. I had some mild shoulder pain. And I thought that yoga might help get rid of it.

M: Did it work?

W: Yeah, the pain is gone. Now I do yoga every day.

M: Good for you. I thought that yoga was only good to improve flexibility. I might try it.

W: You should. I highly recommend it.

[ Cellphone rings.]

W: Mike, what’s up?

M: Hi, Mom. Are you still in the office?

W: No, I just left. Why are you calling?

M: I need your help. I have to print out my biology assignments. But the printer at home is not working.

W: Oh, the printer must have run out of ink.

M: I already checked, and there seems to be enough ink. I don’t know why it’s not working.

W: Did you ask your friend, Brian to print them out for you?

M: I did, but he didn’t have any A4-sized paper at his house. Could you print them out at the printing shop on your way home?

W: Of course, I can. Just send me the files you want printed out.

M: Thanks, Mom. I’ll send them right away.

M: Nancy, I can’t get enough sleep lately.

W: What’s the matter? Is something bothering you?

M: Yeah, I have three exams this week, and I have no time to sleep.

W: You need to sleep especially in this case. It helps improve your memory.

M: Really? How does sleep affect my memory?

W: I read an article that said when you sleep, what’s stored in your short-term memory can be transferred into your long-term memory.

M: Oh, I didn’t know that.

W: Yes, it’s true. I’m sure that getting enough sleep will help you remember what you memorized better.

M: I see. I’ll try to get some more sleep, then.

W: Hello, how can I help you?

M: Hi, I’m looking for a cake for my kids.

W: This chocolate cake is popular, and it’s only 15 dollars.

M: Do you have this in a bigger size? It seems kind of small.

W: They’re all sold out. What about a cheese cake or a strawberry cake then?

M: Sounds good. How much are they?

W: 20 dollars for a cheese cake and 30 dollars for a strawberry cake.

M: Hmm... I’ll take the cheese cake. And I have a 10-percent-off coupon here.

M: Thank you. I came by to ask some questions about my son, Jimmy.

W: Sure. Feel free to ask.

M: I’m wondering how Jimmy is getting along with his friends at school.

W: Well, he’s sociable. I often see him playing soccer with them during lunchtime.

M: That’s great to hear! How’s he doing in class?

W: He stays focused in all my classes. And he’s doing well in almost every subject, except for science.

M: I’m aware of it, but I don’t know how I can help him.

W: We have an after-school science class. It might be helpful.

M: Thank you for the suggestion. I’ll talk to him about it.

W: Dad, I’m home! I’m so hungry! What’s for dinner?

M: I’m going to make hamburgers for dinner.

W: Wow! I love hamburgers. But isn’t it difficult to make the hamburger patties at home?

M: It’s not as hard as you think. First of all, the ingredients are simple.

W: What are they?

M: Just three. Ground beef, salt, and garlic. You put them all into a bowl and mix them well. That’s it! [ Pause] Oh, no!

W: What’s wrong?

M: I thought there was some garlic in our refrigerator, but I don’t see any now. Can you buy some at the grocery store?

W: Sure. I’ll be right back.

M: Thanks. I’ll prepare the salad while you’re gone.

M: Honey, look at our air fryer. It’s too small and worn out.

W: You’re right. We should get a new one.

M: Actually, I found some good ones on the Internet. Do you want to take a look?

W: Sure. Let’s choose one together. How many liters should it be?

M: I think more than ten liters would be good. Our old one is only seven liters. It’s a little bit inconvenient because of its small capacity.

W: Right. We’d better buy a bigger one this time.

M: Yeah. How about the material? Aluminium or stainless steel?

W: I heard that harmful substances come out from aluminium.

M: Okay. Let’s go with stainless steel, then.

W: Good. But more than 200 dollars is too much to spend on an air fryer.

M: I agree. So, we now have only one option. Let’s order it.
