1 About Application Portal
In order to effectively manage its various programs, The Korea Foundation (hereinafter, “KF”) provides an online service for completing and evaluating completed applications (multi-lingual support and application guide, help desk, etc.
are provided for overseas users).
The KF Application Potal system (hereafter "Potal") is interlocked to the Foundation's internal program management system. The portal system allows internal staff to electronically manage all administrative aspects of KF programs including posting program-related announcements, handling program applications, and evaluation management.
The system has changed from one in which the applicant submitted an application via email or fax to one in which the applicant uses the online application portalto fill out and submit applications.
1.1 Services
The application portal system comprehensively provides notices on overall information about KF programs, application guidelines, notices and applications on details of KF programs and the state of progress on application(s) submitted by the user.

2 About applying 2.1 Who can apply
The KF grant programs are divided into two categories. One is for institutional grants and the other is for individuals. Please note that each program has its own eligibility requirements. Therefore, prospective applicants should first choose their desired grant program and learn about the specific eligibility requirements and their summaries.

2.2 How to apply
First, check the program details and the eligibility requirements at the
“Programs & Apply” bulletin board. Then please click on the “Apply” button at the bottom of each particular Program, which is linked to the online application form.
Next, prospective applicants are required to fill out the online form that is related to the proposed project, along with the supporting documents, which will be submitted as attachments to the online application. Applicants will be able to read the detailed guidelines about the online application procedures and how to complete the form on the Coversheet tab page of the online form.

3 How to register: Example
3.1 Member Registration
3.1.1 Click “Sign In”
3.1.2 Select “Individual Member” or “Institution Member”
The application procedure differs depending on member type. Please select either “Individual Member” or “Institution Member.”
Individual members are processed once registration is completed.
For Instititution Member, a user ID will be sent to you at your email address, after processing by The KF
3.1.3 User Consent for the Collection and Usage of Private Information
Please carefully read the following the Tems of Service and check “I agree” to consent to the KF’s collection and usage of private information.
3.1.4 Filling out Member Registration
For purposes of safety and protection, the password must be a combination of at least 2 alphabetic and numeric or special characters.
- For a combination of alphabetic and numeric characters: at least 10 digits - For a combination of alpahabetic and numeric or special characters: at least
8 digits
3.2 Filling out the Application
3.2.1 Selecting a program after log-in
Eligible programs for application are restricted depending on member type.
Individual members may not apply for institutional support programs, and institutional members may not apply for individual support programs.
3.2.2 Installing required software for the Application (only 1 initial installment needed)
※ Run the software program by clicking “Download.”
※ Before installing the software program, make sure to select the PC’s operating system and web browser type.
3.2.3 Verify corresponding programs and click “Apply”
3.2.4 Consent to Agreement to Collect and Use Personal Information
In order to fill out the application, the user must first consent to KF’s required Agreement to Collect and Use Personal Information.
※ The KF does not collect any personal identification information (resident ID number, passport number, credit card number, etc.) in relation to programs.
3.2.5 Filling out the Application
The application is comprised of two formats. One is direct input entry, in which the user directly enters necessary data into fields, while the other is the uploading of attachments. The application requires the use of both formats for completion.
1) Direct input entry
By clicking “Input check,” the user can verify required entry fields
2) Uploaing Files (File attatchment)
To upload files, select the file(s) you wish to attatch by clicking “Browse.”
You must click “Upload” for the file(s) to be successfully uploaded.
- Attachments may only be Hangeul, MS Word, PDF or image file format.
※ Available filename extensions
(.HWP, *.DOC, *.DOCX, *.PDF, *.GIF, *.JPG, *.BMP) - Only 1 file may be uploaded for each attachment category.
- While uploading If the window below does not appear during the uploading process, contact the Help Desk for further assistance.
※ Notice for uploading files (reducing file size)
- Because each overseas diplomatic office has different types of network and PC environments, uploaded files must first by reduced.
- Please use image edit software to reduce the resolution of high- resolution image files. After reducing resolution, attach the converted image files (image, photo) into the document.
3.2.6 Saving Temporarily
It will take a relatively long time to fill out the application. Therefore, while filling out the application, please routinely click “Save Temporarily”
in order to avoid losing your work.

If the User does not input any information on the Portal, content will not be saved.
3.2.7 Submit the Application
When the application is completed, click “Input Check” to make sure that all required fields have been entered. If all required fields are entered, the
“Preview” and “Submit” buttons will be activated.
You must click “Submit” for the file(s) to be successfully submitted..
4 Notification of result
All applicants who have successfully submitted an application will be able to track the application status and its screening results on the “My Project” of this website.
In addition, The KF will inform each applicant of his or her application results via an e-mail address, which must be provided by the applicant.
5 Tips for applying
5.1 Meeting the Deadline
Because applications are now registered through the application portal, applications that are submitted even 1 second late (Korea time) are not accepted.
5.2 In the case of portal error
In the case of portal error, please contact the program officer or system staff in advance to request an application. After filling it out, send the application via email, fax or postal mail.
In this case, the application must be received and processed based on its arrival time in Korea.
Therefore, if you experience any problems regarding your application via portal, make sure you contact the program officer or system staff in advance to avoid missing the deadline.

7 Notification
The KF has created its first ever online program application portal for the effective handling of all application-related tasks.
Although the system has been created and tested on many cases that may occur due to differences in network environment and user PC environment per country, we still do not know about all problems that may occur in an actual environment.
We request your understanding for any inconveniences that may occur while using the KF application portal.
We have learned through experience that an information system is only stabilized
and further developed through frequent use. If there are any errors or problems that occur during use, these will be taken into consideration to create an improved.
