Kuwait PM Holds Talks with Tajikistan Counterpart

His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah on Monday held official talks at Bayan Palace with visiting Tajikistan Premier Qaher Rasoulzada.

During the talks, the two sides discussed horizons of cooperation in different fields to be in the interests of the two friendly countries and their nations.

In addition, they reviewed the international and regional issues of common concern and their countries’ stances towards them.

EU FMs Discuss International Issues Including Gulf Security

The European Union Foreign Affairs Council Monday discussed pressing issues on the international agenda, namely security in the Arabian Gulf region, during its formal meeting in Brussels.

The foreign ministers of the 28-memebr bloc followed-up on their discussion on Syria at the last Foreign Affairs Council in October, and recalled their

commitment to halt arms exports to Turkey, noted a Council statement after the meeting this evening. They also noted the adoption of the framework for

sanctions in response to Turkey’s illegal drilling activities in the Eastern Mediterranean.

The ministers discussed the security situation in the Arab Gulf region and noted that while tensions remain in the region, the situation has not escalated. They reflected on how the EU could support and courage further de-escalation, in particular through initiatives allowing for ownership from the region itself.

Kuwait Invests $ 18 bln in Jordan – Chamber

Kuwait’s investments in Jordan are estimated at over $ 18 billion, said a senior commerce official Monday, voicing willingness to offer all facilities to Jordanian investors.

Speaking while hosting a visiting Jordanian economic team, First Deputy Chairman of the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry Abdulwahab Al- Wazzan said the Chamber spurs Kuwaiti and Jordanian businessmen to run investments in each other’s countries.

He added that the Jordanian delegation had assessed a set of promising investment openings in various realms, giving added value to already existing Kuwaiti investments in Jordan.

Kuwait and Jordan are bound with several agreements bearing on tax exemption, investment promotion, direct investment and whatnots, Al-Wazzan pointed out.

On his part, Jordan Investment Commission Chairman Khaled Al-Wazni said Kuwait is a key investor in Jordan in the domains of mining, real estate, banks and energy.

KCCI Chief Lauds Arab Businessmen and Investors’ Conf.

Chairman of the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Ali Al- Ghanim on Monday stressed the importance of 18th Arab Businessmen and Investors’ Conference currently hosted by Bahrain.

This came in Al-Ghanim’s statement to KUNA on the sidelines of the conference, which will run until November 13.

“ We have discussed several topics, mostly important are advanced technology, and the global change on economy and its consequences on industry”, he said.

He expressed his appreciations to Bahrain for hosting the conference, wishing further progress and prosperity to the Kingdom of Bahrain under the leadership of King Hamad bin Isa.

The event features some ministers, who are interested in investment as well as a galaxy of Arab male and female entrepreneurs, institutions, and representatives of the chambers of commerce and industry.

The conference discusses some main topics like the new digital environment capabilities in Bahrain, the promising chances and the transformation to the digital economy in the Arab world.

Kuwait Oil Price Up 34 Cents to $ 63.22 pb

The price of Kuwaiti crude oil went up 34 cents to $ 63.22 per barrel (pb) on Monday, compared with $ 62.88 pb last Friday, Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) said Tuesday.

At international markets, the rate of the Brent Blend crude contracts settled at $ 62.18 pb, shedding 33 cents, while the West Texas Intermediate contracts crude also lost 38 cents, settling at $ 56.86 pb.

The Cabinet to Government Authorities: the Best Efforts to Block Sources of Corruption

While the Cabinet urged all government entities to exert their utmost efforts to block sources of corruption and to undermine its reasons, it directed the concerned authorities to follow-up the issue of assault on public funds at the Public Institution for Public Insurance, and to adopt the legal procedures to restore all the funds of the institution. Further, it urged them to seriously extradite the defendant to Kuwait authorities.

The Cabinet held its weekly meeting yesterday afternoon at Bayan Palace chaired by His Highness Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak. After the meeting, Mr. Anas Al-Saleh, the Deputy Premier and State Minister for the Cabinet Affairs stated the following:

1- His Highness the Premier informed the Cabinet of the results of the visit of Singapore President, Halima Yacoup and her accompanying delegation. Further, HH informed the Cabinet of her positive talks with HH the Amir, which focused on the friendship relations between the two countries and means of developing mutual cooperation in all fields.

2- HH the Premier informed the Cabinet of the results of the visit of the President of the Republic of Estonia, Kersti Kaljulaid, her talks with HH the Amir, which were focused on development of mutual bilateral relations in the various fields, especially in the trade and investment fields. Further, an MOU was inked between both countries regarding digital development.

3- The Cabient welcomed the visit of the Premier of Tajikistan, Kokhir Rasulzoda, hoping good residence in Kuwait for him and his accompanying delegation.

4- HH the Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister informed the Cabinet of the significance of his visit to Saudi Arabia to hand a letter from HH the Amir to King Salman bin Abdulaziz, which focused on close bilateral relations between the two countries.

5- The Foreign Minister informed the Cabinet of the results of the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of South Sudan.

During the visit the two countries signed an agreement to establish a joint cooperation committee and inked a memo for regular consultations between the two countries’ foreign ministries.

Minister Al-Saleh focused on the legal measures, recently taken by the legal team assigned by the Fatwa and Legislation Department regarding public funds’

squandering at the Public Institution for Social Services. Upon the documents and arguments presented by the team, the British higher court issued a verdict, suspending assets of the defendant Fahad Mazyad Al-Rajaan, the former director general of the institution, all over the world.

The ministers praised the relentless efforts undertaken by the institution and the Fatwa Department for following up on the cause of “assaulting the state public funds”, as a national duty. They urged all government departments to do their best to eradicate corruption, and called on the concerned authorities to pursue the procedures to reclaim the institution funds and seek to hand over the defendant to the Kuwaiti authorities for prosecution.

Kuwait National Assembly Starts Discussing Interpellation of the Minister of Public Works – Minister of Housing

Kuwait – 11 – 12 (KUNA) – The National Assembly stated in its regular session today (Tuesday) discussing the interpellation directed to Dr. Jenan Ramadan Bushehri, Minister of Public Works, and State Minister for Housing Affairs in her capacity, which was submitted by MP Omar Al-Tabtabaei.

“We Sent the Five-Year-Plan to Ministers to Give Their Opinion: Mahdi Dr. Khaled Mahdi, the Secretariat-General of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development confirmed that coordination and cooperation between the SCPD and the Ministry of Finance are witnessing a high level.

Both authorities pursue filling the previous gaps of the development plans.

“The upcoming plan is conforming to the budget as priorities of both authorities have been determined”, said Mahdi on the sidelines of inaugurating the regional forum program and the 9th annual conference for Woman Studies and Researches Center at the Faculty of Social Sciences.

Further, he pointed out that the Five-Year-Plan 2020 – 2025 was sent to the Cabinet to read and give opinion in order to take their notes, and also to take the

notes of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development to reach a reconciliation and to have stability in the plan.

As for the conference, Mahdi said that coordination is continuing between the SCPD and Woman Studies Center and the UN in this regard. He confirmed that Kuwait is one of the first countries in the region that empowered women through the fifth objective of sustainable development via 3 projects.

He clarified that woman representation percentage is still low as the development plans aim to reach a representation percentage of nearly 30%, however, the percentage at present is 15%.
