Exactly Separable X(5) Potential in Axially Deformed Nuclei

(Received 22 February 2011 : revised 14 March 2011 : accepted 27 March 2011)
The energy spectra of the ground state, β, and γ bands in axially deformed nuclei have been studied by using the exactly separable X(5) potential of the form U (β) + V (γ)/β
2in the Bohr Hamiltonian. An infinite square well potential and a harmonic oscillator potential were used as U (β) and V (γ), respectively. The relative positions of all bandheads and the internal structures of all bands were determined by using the theory with only one parameter. The results of numer- ical application to the ground state, β, and γ bands in
162Dy are in a good agreement with the experimental data.
