World Education Forum 2015
General Information
• Date/Venue : 19-22. May. 2015/ Songdo Convensia, Incheon (Pre-events start at 18th, including NGO forum)
• About 1,500 participants are expected, including Ministers and other
representatives of all UN Member States, United Nations agencies, multilateral, regional and bilateral organizations, civil society organizations, the teaching profession, the private sector, academics, experts, journalists, research institutes and foundations.
• High-Level Guests including the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Executive Heads of EFA co-convening agencies, Heads of State and other world leaders are expected to participate.
Objectives
• Take stock of achievements and shortfalls in the implementation of the Dakar Framework for Action and the education-related MDGs during the period 2000- 2015
• Reach agreement on a holistic and transformational global post-2015 education agenda with an overarching goal and targets, contributing and aligned to the broader post-2015 development framework
• Finalize and adopt a comprehensive Framework for Action to guide and support the implementation of the future education agenda.

Forum 2015
Introduction
• UNESCO, as mandated by its Member States, has been facilitating the debates on the post-2015 education agenda, in close collaboration with UNICEF, the EFA coordination mechanism and key education stakeholders.
• The process to determine the post-2015 education goal, targets and strategies for implementation will culminate at the World Education Forum 2015 (WEF 2015) which will be organized by UNESCO and hosted by the Republic of Korea.
WEF Host Committee Secretariat
• The WEF 2015 will consist of a stimulating mix of plenary and parallel sessions, round tables and side events.
• A Drafting Group will be established and meet throughout the WEF 2015 duration to finalize the agreed education goal and targets as well as the Framework for Action for its adoption.
Format and Programme
Side Events
• A series of side events (thematic and stakeholder meetings), including the NGO Forum will be organized by UNESCO, the government and selected institutions of the Republic of Korea and by other partners.
Exhibition
• UNESCO and the host government will prepare exhibitions on Education for All and on the Republic of Korea’s education system.
• An exhibition space will be available where participants can reserve a stand to present initiatives or documents and publications during the WEF 2015.
