The purpose of this study was to develop and implement teaching materials for changes in con- cepts about voltage and electric grounding. One hundred sixty students in a high school located in Gyeonggi province took part in this research. For this study, we investigated students’ miscon- ceptions about voltage and electric grounding. Many students had trouble in distinguishing static electricity from current. Moreover they could not recognize the fact that a wire in wheel current flowed was in an electrically neutral state. The great misconception found frequently among the respondents was about electric grounding. The majority of the students thought that if the conduct- ing wire carrying the electric current was connected to the ground, all the current would flow into the ground, and there would be no current in the circuit. The teaching materials focused on both the roles of voltage and how voltage in an open circuit is different from voltage in a closed circuit.

Also, it included materials that would help students distinguish the role of electric grounding in the case of a current from that in the case of static electricity. Results showed that the developed teaching materials were very effective in improving the students’ understanding about voltage and electric grounding.
