Analysis of Curriculum and Content Relevance
in Physics II Textbooks of the 2009 Revised Science Curriculum

The purpose of this research was to investigate the curriculum and the physics content in physics II textbooks based on the 2009 revised science curriculum. Two kinds of physics II textbooks were analyzed. The results of this study were as follows: First, in two textbooks, 25 physics concepts did not conform to the curriculum. Second, as to terms, explanations, idealizations and illustrations, 64 items needed better explanations, concrete situations and an understanding of the student’s level of achievement. Fundamentally, the physics II textbook is for natural science and engineering students, but its contents must conform to the curriculum, and contain relevant content, so that students have easy access to the physics. Therefore, textbooks need to be undergo various sufficient reviews for conformance to of the curriculum and for appropriateness of textbook content.
