Kuwait Prime Minister Hosts Visiting Pakistan Interior Minister

His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah received the visiting Pakistani Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad, accompanied by a delegation of senior security officials, at Seif Palace on Sunday.

The Pakistani Minister of Interior, during the meeting attended by the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah and Interior Minister Sheikh Thamer Ali Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, handed a written message from the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Imran Khan to His Highness the Prime Minister.

The message deals with means of cementing the bilateral relations between Kuwait and Pakistan. The audience was attended by Chairperson of the Prime Minister’s Diwan Abdulaziz Al-Dekheel. The Pakistani Interior Minister, accompanied by a delegation of ranking officials, has arrived in the country earlier on a two-day official visit, Kuwait Interior Ministry said in a statement earlier on Sunday that the visit came as part of bilateral consultations between the two countries on issues of common interest namely in the security sector.

Kuwait Airways Doubles Number of Direct Flights from Philippines

The domestic labor market is expected to witness a breakthrough in terms of the number of domestic workers hired from the Philippines; especially after Kuwait Airways Corporation doubled the number of direct flights from Manila recently, reports Al-Jarida daily. Chairman of Kuwait Union of Domestic Labor Offices (KUDLO) Khaled Al-Dakhnan revealed that the union is in direct and continuous contact with the officials in charge of the ‘Belsalamah’

platform to ensure that the number of direct flights transporting domestic workers from the Philippines will increase from two to five per month in order to address the acute shortage of workers. He pointed out the domestic labor

market has been suffering for about 18 months due to the suspension of the recruitment process. He affirmed that this week and in the next two weeks, the local recruitment offices will start receiving a large number of domestic workers from the Philippines.

“This came after the Labor Export Union in Manila approved our request to review the rules and regulations that could delay the recruitment process, as well as to quickly find solutions to speed up the arrival of these workers in Kuwait,” he disclosed. He added, “The Labor Export Union in Manila also approved our request to exclude workers coming to Kuwait from the requirement to complete a training course in a specialized governmental institute if they have not worked in any of the Gulf countries before and for them to undergo training in private institutions. In this manner, more workers will be recruited.” He then urged the citizens and expatriates planning to recruit domestic workers from the Philippines to strictly comply with the terms of the tripartite employment contract. He called on the owners of domestic labor offices to adhere to the recruitment fees specified by the Ministry of Commerce, while stressing the need for citizens and expatriates to immediately report violations related to the recruitment fees through the ministry’s hotline number 135.

Domestic Affairs 1,095 New COVID Cases, 7 Deaths: Kuwait

Kuwait’s Health Ministry declared on Sunday recording 1,095 new COVID-19 cases in addition to seven deaths caused by the deadly virus past 24 hours.

MOH official spokesperson Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad said in a statement to KUNA the caseload of contamination cases rose to 307,812 and the mortality toll settled at 1,771.

Dr. Al-Sanad added that medical authorities recorded 1,180 recovery causes, during the same duration, increasing tally of cured patients to 292,701, noting that the proportion of recoveries was estimated at 95.9%.

Number of patients under treatment at intensive care units amounted to 144, while the total count of positively diagnosed cases and continue to receive medical treatment stood at 13,340.

He further mentioned that 9,227 swab tests were conducted during the same period, putting overall number of such examinations at 25.968,807, also noting that the proportion of the infections in contrast to the tests was estimated at 11.86%.

Kuwait Health Ministry Opens Jaber Bridge Inoculation Center

Kuwait Ministry of Health announced on Sunday inauguration of Kuwait Center for Anti-COVID Vaccination Center for motorists on the Southern islet of Jaber Bridge.

Official Spokesperson of the MOH Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad said in a statement to KUNA that the center was equipped with all necessary devices. Moreover, it is staffed by a 200-strong team of medics, technicians and administrators.

The MOH has set up the inoculation center in coordination with Kuwait Oil Company, Kuwait Integrated Petroleum Industries Company, the Ministry of Public Labor, the Ministry of Interior, the Public Authority for Roads and Transportation and Kuwait Fire Force.

Elaborating, he has noted that there are 22 vaccination centers in all the country’s governorates, in addition to the immunization center at the fair ground in Mishref. Moreover, the vaccines are being administered to personnel at the Military Hospital, the oil sector at Al-Ahmadi Hospital -- affiliated to Kuwait Oil Company.

The newly opened inoculation center at the bridge is one of the largest centers in the country. It encompasses 10 lanes for vaccination seekers, in addition to 20 vaccination cabins.

The center, situated on the 30,000 sq meter islet includes clinics and emergency chambers.

Kuwait Maintains Supporting Palestinian People --- KRCS

Kuwait Red Crescent (KRCS) affirmed on Sunday that Kuwait will always intensively back to Palestine in face of Israeli aggression.

KISR’s emergency management director Yousef Al-Miraj made the affirmation to KUNA after a meeting with Egyptian Red Crescent Executive Director Rami Al-Nadher to discuss boosting support in Gaza.

He stressed on serving humanitarian calls towards affected people, adding that the KCRS discussed with both Egyptian and Palestinian Red Crescent societies means of meeting all needs of Palestinian people in the near future.

Moreover, Al-Miraj expressed his gratitude towards Kuwait Embassy in Egypt and the ERC for their huge efforts to deliver aid for Palestinians.

From his side, Al-Nadher has affirmed that Kuwait is a permeant pioneer in humanitarian contributions

Kuwait Oil Tanker Company Receives Newly Built Tanker

Kuwait Oil Tanker Company has taken delivery of the giant crude oil tanker

“Al-Siddiq” from China’s shipbuilding company Bohai - - signaling the first such cooperation between the country and Beijing.

Abdulnasser Al-Fulaij, the KOTC CEO, said in a statement to KUNA on Sunday that by receiving Al-Siddiq, the company fleet grew to 32 tankers of various sizes and purposes, affirming keenness on meeting the market demand for the crude oil and derivatives.

The new tanker is for a 333 meters’ length, 60-m width, with a cargo capacity of nearly 323 metric tons of crude –equivalent to 2.25 million barrels. Its cargo can be uploaded in less than 24 hours.

Al-Fulaij noted that it is friendly to the environment with equipment for treating diverse types of gases and other pollutants.

Kuwait Manpower Enforces Noon Work Ban on June 01

Kuwait Public Authority for Manpower (the PAM) announced, Sunday, it will enforce the ban on working in exposed areas during noon hours starting June first until the end of August in compliance with decision No. 535/2015.

The Director General of (PAM) Ahmad Al-Mousa said in a press release that inspection teams would follow up with the implementation of the decision during the next three months. The authority will organize a surprise inspection tours on different locations to monitor any violations and take legal action against violators, Al-Mousa explained.

The decision aims to protect workers from the extreme heat, as well as regulating work process not reducing work hours, he added.

During the past years, many companies at different sectors approved the decision that came in line with Kuwait obligation to apply international labor standards, the official noted.

He stressed that employees are committed to guarantee the health and safety of their workers, as well as complying with the labor law and decisions regulating it.
