As of Monday, COVID-19 cases climbed up to 2,099, bringing the total number of recorded COVID-19 cases to 46,333. Meanwhile, the death toll is now at 1,303, while total recoveries have reached 12,185.

The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) will suspend operations after a total of 186 employees tested positive for the COVID-19 disease. Transportation Assistant Secretary Goddes Libiran said that out of the 186 employees who tested positive, 17 are ticket sellers, train drivers, control center personnel and a nurse, while 169 are depot personnel.

The Malacañang Palace expressed sadness on the sudden spike of the COVID-19 cases in the Philippines. However, presidential spokesman Harry Roque emphasized the importance of reopening its economy despite the increase of positive cases, and added further that it is still possible for the country to go back to Enhanced Community Quarantine if the situation worsens.
