An Analysis on Learning Readiness for and Achievement in

‘College General Physics I’ of Science Education Major Students of a College of Education

The purposes of this study were to investigate how many students who enrolled in a general physics course at the university had studied high-school physics, to investigate if there is a difference in learning readiness for ‘College General Physics I’ between students who studied both physics I &

II in their high schools and students who studied only physics I, and to investigate the correlation between the students’ learning readiness and their achievement in the ‘College General Physics I’

course. Thirty-six students from a university in a large Korean city were sampled for the study.

According to their learning readiness test result, there was a great difference between the students who enrolled in high-school physics I & II and the ones who only enrolled in physics I. In addition, there was a substantial corelation between the students’ learning readiness and their achievement in ‘College General Physics I’
