From day one, getting maximum R-value from your thermal insulation depends on making sure the fit is flush with no gaps or air pockets. With its unique density, non- directional fibre structure and exclusive flexible edge, Flexibatt is designed to deliver a better fit.

Simply push the flexible edge against one stud, insert the batt into the cavity and release it to expand firmly against the opposing stud. The flexible edge will compensate for normal variations in stud centres resulting in a flush fit and full R-value.

As well, Flexibatt is very easy to cut and shape using a simple serrated knife, such as a common bread knife. Batts can be cut and shaped to fit around windows, doors, into tight corners and in less-than-full-width cavities eliminating the

“tear and stuff” practice, common with other insulating materials, that significantly reduces R-value.

A vapour barrier is required on all exterior wall thermal insulation applications. It is applied directly to the wall studs on the interior side of the wall over top of the insulation and underneath the interior wall finish (typically drywall). Gloves, dust mask, eye protection and loose clothing are recommended when handling insulation.

Wiring

Score the batt with your serrated knife at the height of the wire and then cut the batt to about half the thickness. Fold the batt back and fit the wire into the opening. Fold the batt back to close the opening and push it into place.

Plumbing

For large drainpipes, make two cuts at 45º angles to form a “V” groove. Then fit the insulation around the pipe into position.

Treat small diameter pipes as you would wiring.

Electrical Boxes

Measure the box itself as well as the distance it is up the stud. Cut a notch out of the batt at the corresponding height.

Slide the batt into place behind the box and push it snugly up against the side, top and bottom of the box.
