Abstract

Syn-gas is currently attracting worldwide attention due to its environmental benign characteristics. Until now it was researched as an alternative fuel of power plant because it is a clean fuel. In this present study, we compared the methane (CH4) fuel as main component of natural gas and syn-gas as an alternative fuel of utility combustor. The study of both fuels is evaluated by numerical calculation. The characteristics of combustion and NOx formation are studied in variable stretch rate, pressure, initial temperature and dilution. In the NOx formation of diffusion flame, EINOx is affected by stretch rate, pressure, initial temperature and dilution. EINOx is compared between CH4 and syn-gas flames. We need further research about syn-gas fuel as the alternative fuel of utility combustor.
