The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Sofia invites applications for the position of Researcher/ Analyst in its Economic and Political Section
1. Summary of position:
Under the direction of the Ambassador and Counselors (Economic/Political), Researcher/ Analyst fulfills several responsibilities to advance interests of the Republic of Korea, including:
- Monitoring, analysis, reporting and writing papers on political and economic issues in Bulgaria, Macedonia, and EU;
- Supporting in the process of developing and implementing strategies to advance Korean interests in Bulgaria and the EU, including through the use of social media;
- Establishing, developing and maintaining networks of contacts in key sectors of interest such as government institutions, NGOs, business communities, etc.
- Drafting official communications, including notes verbal and outgoing letters;
- Interpretation and translation (verbal and written form) in Bulgarian and English;
- Contacting with media journalists, writers, researchers, etc.
- Developing synergies within the section and with other sections of the Embassy on issues of mixed/shared responsibilities to contribute to meeting the overall objectives of the Embassy.
2. Qualifications:
- Academic background – Successful Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Economics, Diplomacy, Law, International Relations, Business Administration, Public Administration, etc.
- Experience: At least 3 years recent experience working on political, legal or governmental issues, preferably in an international/EU affairs environment, carrying out duties similar to the duties and responsibilities listed above.
- Language: Fluent written and spoken English is a must.
- IT skills: Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point etc.
- Advantage: Korean language, knowledge of diplomatic protocol, working experience with government related network.
3. Condition(s) of Employment:
- Working hours: 09:00-17:30, Monday to Friday
- Monthly Salary : Negotiable (social insurance is included) - Starting date of work: Oct. 2021 (It can be changed)
- Location : Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Sofia, Bulgaria (2V Srebarna str.) - Yearly based contract for the first 2 years and subject to 3 months’ of probation period.
