February Newspaper: (Issue 470)
Politics:
Omar Ahmidan (GNC spokesperson) confirms Sunday be a session to elect a GNC chairman. He also indicated that presidency of GNC has not received any nominees for the position yet.
Civil organizations call for purging judiciary. They call for isolating those who worked under Gaddafi regime and applying the Isolation Law on judiciary as well.
The protest took place in front of the Supreme Board of Judiciary in Dahra area in Tripoli.
The commissioner of the High Commission for Elections met the Charge D’Affaires of US Embassy. Cooperation means and electoral support were the main topics discussed.
Economy:
Water Assessment Projects launched in Libya. The General Authority for Water organized a workshop on the start of the Assessment and Follow-up Project which is under supervision of the Center of Environment and Development of the Regions of Arabs and Europe.
Security:
Students of Tripoli University protest by shutting down the university. This protest comes as a reaction against the absence of security in the school. Protestors complained on the high level of drug usage, hallucination pills and harassment.

Politics:
Minister of Tourism (Ekram Bash Imam): Tourism sector to be the second resource of national revenue.
Election of GNC chairman postponed until Monday.
General Gneedi appointed COS temporarily.
Economy:
A Libyan-Tunisian agreement on facilitating passenger, goods, and merchandise movement in addition to customs procedures. In this agreement, the two parties from Libyan and Tunisian sides agreed to cancel the Minister of Economy regarding importing vehicles that are more than 5 years old.

A number of civil organizations in Benghazi as well as the Local Council call for reconsidering other designs for the Benghazi International Airport so it could attract more investment, trade, tourism, etc.
Security:
Commander of Libya Shield branch of Ajdabya dismissed all members of the force.
He stated that this comes in line with the Chief of Staff’s orders. Members were given the choice to either join the army or the interior, or re-join their original occupations and jobs.

General Gneedi (Chif of Staff in charge) orders armed militias to surrender weapons and machines, and leave towns.
A police patrol attacked in Benghazi by unknown persons. Patrol was fired on by light weapons. Vehicles of the patrol were severely damaged but no casualties.
Algerian security forces bust drug smugglers while carrying 3 tons from an Algerian town to Libya in a cargo truck.
General Director of Motor Vehicle Registrations and Traffic: Libya is ranked number 1 in death and weapons statistics.
