Join H.E. Mr Lee Baeksoon, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Australia, in an important discussion on the implications of the recent inter- Korea Summit.
The historic inter-Korean summit between President Moon Jae-in and Chairman Kim Jong Un on Friday, 27 April 2018 is creating a new order on the Korean peninsula and the Northeast Asia region.
There were many fruitful outcomes from the summit including the Panmunjom Declaration that commits to bring about peace and prosperity on the Korean peninsula. The declaration will play a critical role in defusing tensions by bringing an end to hostile activities and promoting reconciliation between South and North Korea. It certainly will become a historic turning point for the Korean peninsula and the international community.
Korea is Australia’s 4th largest trading partner and the Korea-Australia Free Trade Agreement that came into force in December 2014 further strengthens the bilateral trade cooperation. Korea and Australia have complementary industrial structures, thus both have more potential to further develop bilateral ties.
