Young-jun Kim Consul General
Consulate General of Korea in Atlanta 229 Peachtree Street NE Suite 500 Atlanta , Georgia 30303
Dear Consul General Kim:
On behalf of the City of Atlanta, I am writing to express my deepest condolences to the Asian American and Pacific Islander Community (AAPI) during these challenging times.
My thoughts are with the eight women whose lives were lost on March 16th, those injured, and their families.
Unfortunately, this was not an isolated case. I have watched the disturbing rise in violence across the country as a result of anti-Asian rhetoric during the onset of the Coronavirus pandemic. And it must stop.
I cannot imagine the pain and fear Asian women in Atlanta are experiencing right now.
Yet, I know that working together, we can and will address violence spurned by hate in our communities.
As Mayor of Atlanta, I want to assure you that hate of any kind will not be tolerated in our City. Our Administration stands ready to work with members of the AAPI community as we consider what actions we should take.
Atlanta is the birthplace of the civil rights movement, and as we have shown time and again, our greatest strength is when we come together.
Atlanta is still the City too busy to hate, not too busy to love and not too busy to care.
Sincerely,
Keisha Lance Bottoms
