Guideline

Pig industry have been increased during the last half century in Korea. About sixteen million pigs were slaughtered in 2013, which is indicating current situation of pig farm- ing in our country. Increase in the number of animals is closely related with the increase of outbreak in infectious diseases. After the antimicrobial agents had been banned as feed additives in July 2012, the importance of vaccines have been increased. To control the epidemics of the infectious diseases, several vaccination programs have been used in Korean pig farms based on the farm situation even though standard vaccine pro- grams were suggested. Therefore, needs to optimize pig vaccination program has been increased in our country. Based on the current situation of Korean pig industry, vacci- nation programs in pigs are suggesting (Tables 1, 2). However, this guideline is adjust- able to farm depending on the situation of farms such as current vaccination programs and immunological status in each farm.

There is no published guideline for the vaccination to pigs even though several vaccine com- panies suggested the program based on their products. It is very difficult to standardize the program because most of the veterinary vaccines are containing several multivalent antigens depending on the companies. Now, we are suggesting the vaccine programs based on the current situation.
