Moonsighting Committee: Ramadan to Start on Monday in Kuwait Kuwait's Moonsighting Committee has announced that Sunday will be the last day of the lunar month of Sha'ban and that therefore the holy fasting month of Ramadan will start on Monday.
Ramadan's crescent has not been sighted today, so tomorrow (Sunday) will be the last day of Sha'aban, Chairman of the Moonsighting Committee Justice Yousef Al-Mutawaa stated after the committee meeting on Saturday's evening.
Consequently, Ramadan of the Hijri or Islamic calendar of 1440 will commence on Monday May 6, he pointed out.
Sha'ban is the eighth month of the Islamic calendar. It is the last lunar month before Ramadan, and so Muslims determine in it when the first day of the holy fasting month of Ramadan will be.
On this dear occasion, Justice Al-Mutawaa, also head of Kuwait's Supreme Judiciary Council, Cassation Court and Constitutional Court, congratulated His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Kuwait's political leadership, nationals and residents as well as the whole Arab and Muslim worlds.
Minister of Justice and Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs Dr. Fahad Al-Afasi also greeted His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Kuwait's political leadership, nationals and residents as well as the Arab and Muslim nations on the start of Ramadan.

A New Electronic System for Obesity Data: Al-Sabah
Minister of Health, Sheikh Basel Al-Sabah announced applying a new electronic system for recording data of obesity surgeries at all the hospitals of the MOH.

This came in a statement on the sidelines of his meeting with Chairman of Kuwait Surgeons Association and member of the International Committee for Drafting Laws and Protocols for Obesity Surgeries, which is related to the international confederation for obesity surgeries, Dr. Salman Al-Sabah and the Deputy member of Bader Al-Sultan Company, which is in charge of the project, Anwar Sultan at the headquarters of the Ministry of Health on the occasion of submitting the 1st electronic report for obesity surgeries in Kuwait.

OTC Trading “Positive” Last Week – Report
Kuwait's Over the Counter (OTC) market witnessed an increase in total trading by end of last week, reaching 3.5 million shares at a value of KD 251,4 (around USD 854,7) done through 35 transactions.
An OTC report, issued Sunday, indicated that 'immediate' transactions recorded a positive performance during the week, with trading reaching 320,9 shares, at a value of KD 8,7 (around USD 29,5) done through 24 transactions.
As for 'private' transactions, trading was positive during the week with 3.2 million shares traded, valued at KD 242,7 (around USD 825,18) through 11 transactions.
The fresh market aims to create a transparent environment by bringing buyers and sellers together using fully supervised mechanisms. The trading platform adopts the clearing and settlement procedures.

Representative of HH the Amir Met with Erdogan
Representative of HH the Amir, HH Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad visited Turkey that day of the week to participate in inaugurating Chamilga Mosque.
Al-Muhammad met that day of the week with the Turkish President, Receb Tayyeb Erdogan and conveyed the greetings of HH the Amir and his wishes of well-being and prosperity for his people.

Talks Related to UK’s Participation in Implementing “Kuwait Vision 2035”
First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Sheikh Nasser Al-Sabah discussed with UK Minister of International Development Roy Stuart the possibility of the cooperation and participation of the UK in implementing the vision of HH the Amir in achieving (New Kuwait Vision 2035).
Sheikh Nasser presented to the British Minister detailed explanation of the noble vision and both sides discussed the possibility of the participation of the UK in studying and implementing this ambitious vision.
Moreover, both sides discussed the project of the northern economic region and the possibility to benefit from the long history of UK in running economic cities like Hong Kong, Jebel Tarek and Singapore.
