In this paper, a hierarchical design concept of a preamble for OFDM-based mobile mesh networks (MMNs) is proposed to reduce the handover overhead by distinguishing an inter-cluster handover event from an intra-cluster handover event at the physical layer. The handover procedure using the proposed preamble can simplify the scanning procedure and skip/simplify the network entry procedure, resulting in a significant reduction of the handover overhead. The performance of the handover procedure using the proposed preamble is evaluated using the parameters in the IEEE 802.16 mesh mode.

논문의 우수성

∘ 전송전력의 효율성과 자원할당의 유연성에 장점을 갖는 OFDMA 기반의 무선 메 쉬 통신시스템이 개발되고 있다. 그러나 이동성을 갖는 기동 메쉬 네트워크에서 는 노드 간의 핸드오버 빈도수가 높아 효율적인 핸드오버 기법이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 OFDMA 기반의 이동 메쉬 네트워크에 적합한 핸드오버 기법과 이를 위한 프리앰블 설계기법을 제안하였다.

∘ 본 논문에서는 이동성을 갖는 IEEE 802.16 기반 무선 메쉬 네트워크에서 통신 시스템에서 핸드오버 오버헤드를 최소화 할 수 있는 프리앰블을 새로이 설계하 였으며, OFDMA 물리계층을 FPGA로 구현하여 이동 메쉬 모뎀 구현에 적용되 었다. FPGA와 DSP로 구현된 무선 메쉬 테스트베드에서 연동 테스트를 마치고 현재 차세대 군의 기동 메쉬 네트워크 구축을 위하여 상용화 개발 중이며 이동 성을 갖는 무선 메쉬 네트워크 구축에 적용 가능하다.

A novel diversity and directivity mode-switchable planar antenna is presented. The antenna structure consists of four circular antenna elements.

In the diversity mode, the four elements are unfolded on a plane for polarization diversity. Because of the orthogonal arrangement of the four elements, good diversity performance can be achieved. The antenna function is changed to directivity mode when the four elements are folded and stacked. Each element works as a reflector, a driver, and a director, as seen in the Yagi-Uda antenna principle, indicating that the antenna represents high directivity. A bent feed line and two methods of feeding are used to improve the directivity, for which a 4.5-dB greater peak gain is achieved than with the diversity mode. At 2.4 GHz, the antenna simulation results are consistent with the measurement results, and the performance is successfully proven.

∘ 두 가지 모드를 가짐으로 사용자는 통신환경에 따라 안테나를 선택할 수 있으 며, 이는 통신환경에 방해받지 않으면서 정보를 보다 효율적으로 접근할 수 있 음을 의미한다. 따라서 본 논문은 무선통신기술을 보다 가치 있게 만든 기술을 나타냈으며 이와 관련한 어플리케이션의 개발 역시 높을 것으로 예상된다.
