India–Korea Joint Statement for

Expansion of Strategic Partnership

H.E. Mme. Park Geun–hye, President, Republic of Korea, paid a State Visit to India during 15–18 January 2014, at the invitation of H.E. Shri Pranab Mukherjee, President of India.

The 2 leaders highlighted the importance of strengthening co–

operation in the field of Science & Technology (S&T). Recognizing that a S&T Co–operation Fund of 10 million USD, contributed for the period 2011–15, has been utilized to implement joint research

projects in the S&T sector, they agreed to create an additional joint fund of 10 million USD (with a contribution of 5 million USD by each side) to promote mega projects which will be conducted jointly by the Industries, Academia & Institutes. The projects will focus on research leading to application & techno–commercialization. Both leaders welcomed the signing of the MoU between the Indian

Ministry of S&T and the Korean Ministry of Science, ICT & Future Planning on a Joint Applied R&D Programme in S&T.
