1. Accident insurance

1) Please be aware that all exchange students in Korea are obligated to purchase accident insurance (it is obligatory not optional).

2) If you do not purchase an insurance while you are studying in KNU, your admission will be canceled regardless of whether you have paid your tuition fee or not.

③ One or two main pages including your name, birthdate, coverage contents and the period of coverage are enough. (Please write down your student ID number and major on the first page)

※ You can refer to the materials regarding international students’ accident insurance provided by KNU on Orientation day.

2. Accomodation and Meal Plan

※ Students can check their own different account number for payment

Note You can not live in a dorm or use a dorm cafeteria if you do not follow designated period for payment.

Cafeteria (Two options)

1. Four months application

- Using cafeteria from today after applying to the staff of cafeteria - You must pay food fees on 9 Mar ∼ 10 Mar 2017 and you can not get refund or cancel during this semester.

2. Buying a meal ticket for each meal(4,000 KRW) when you want

2) Main dormitory rules

- Smoking, cooking and drinking alcohol in the dormitory are forbidden.

- For breaking the curfew (01:00～05:00) you will be given penalty points

- Allowing strangers to sleep inside your room and accessing the room or dormitory of the opposite gender is strictly forbidden.

※ Dormitories are not properly soundproofed, so please do not make noises in a hall way, especially after midnight. ※ Please carefully check your dormitory regulations and keep them.

Be aware that if you get more than 8 penalty points you will be asked to leave the dormitory.

3) Roll call

- Korean dormitories have a monthly meeting, called ‘Roll call’.

It is held at 11pm on Monday of every first week of the month in a hallway of your dormitory.

Dormitory RA(Residence Assistant) will announce important information and check your room. Room checking includes: is your room clean or do you use forbidden electric appliances such as electric kettle, mini refrigerator, electric pad, etc. (please be aware that penalty points will be given if you are absent from Roll call)

- Please stay in your dormitory on (Mon) 6 Mar 2017 at 11pm for the first roll call.

3. Korean Language Class – Level Test

- Please visit to the Office of International Affairs between 10am to 11:30am on (Fri) 3 Mar 2017 with your final class schedule. (Taebaekgwan 4^th floor) - After the lever test, class starts on the second week of March.

Korean Language Class of the department of Korean Language

& Literature

- You must take a level test and you can find more information from English/Chinese KNU website for this Korean Language class (regular course for credits) of the department of Korean Language & Literature - Level test date(2017): (Thu) 2 Mar 13:00 or (Tue) 7 Mar 13:00 - Place: Department of Humanities (Building 510#) 108

- Classes are obligatory for all graduate and undergraduate international students (exchange students are not mandatory)

◐ Alien Registration Card (ARC)

- International students should apply for an alien registration card within 90 days from their arrival in Korea. You should go to the immigration office by yourself but KNU is going to provide a bus for your convenience for the first semester.

◐ Shinhan Bank Account

※ You will receive just a bankbook not a banking card, but you can withdraw or transfer money with your bankbook by visiting a bank or using ATM. You can apply for KNU student card (which includes check card function) after receiving an alien registration card.

◐ Steps to apply for a student ID card

★ You don’t have to apply for a student ID card or Shinhan check card if youi don’t need it ★ Opening a
