Important Guidelines for TOPIK Test Takers

Requirements

Test registration slip, and a valid form of identification

Taking the Test(regulations)

Test takers cannot take the test if there is a copy or invalid form of identification.

Test takers cannot take the test if there is no photo on the test registration slip, or if personal

identification is unable.

Test takers cannot take the test if the English name on a test registration slip and a valid form of

identification is different completely.

It is only allowed to take the TOPIK at the venue in where they applied for; so one cannot take

the test at another test venue.

Test takers must sit in the assigned seat of the test room no later than the entrance time of the test

venue. (It is not allowed to enter the test room after the entrance time.)

China, Taiwan: TOPIK II 1st period will start at 13:00.

Time is based on the local time.

○ In the case of type B question booklets, make sure the type of question booklets(odd·even number type) have been distributed precisely(if not, please inform the proctor.)

(e.g,) if the end of the test registration number is odd, one should be distributed odd number type question booklet. If the end of the test registration number is even, one should be distributed even number type question booklet.

Test takers are not allowed to leave during the test, however in case of emergency, one may leave

the test room under proctor’s permission. (one may submit the confidentiality pledge when leaving and the score is not marked.)

In case of leaving to the corridor for reason of disease or any other unavoidable reason during the

test, the test taker shall cooperate with the proctor in the corridor for confirmation to avoid misunderstanding of fraud/cheating.

In case of TOPIK , absentee in the 1st period is not allowed to take the 2nd period of the test

and no refund will be permitted.

○ Test takers who leave the test room during the test and who cheat or bring prohibited items cannot receive any test report.

TOPIK test scores are valid for 2 years from the day of TOPIK results announcement.

Notices for Marking Answer Sheet

It is the test taker’s responsibility to manage the test time, therefore one must complete the answer

sheet within the test time.

Test takers should mark for listening test only during listening test period, and mark for

reading/writing test only during reading/writing test period.

There is no spare time to mark on the answer sheet during listening section.

Answer sheets should be dealt with care not to be damaged or stained by scribbling or marking

unnecessarily. If found, the test taker may have disadvantages. In particular, the timing mark (■■

) on top and bottom side of the answer sheet should not be damaged at all.

Answers and not considered valid and scored if not marked on the answer sheet, even though

written on question booklet.

Test takes are only allowed to use the double-sided marker, distributed by proctor the before the test,

for filling in the answer sheet. (Test takers are solely responsible for any disadvantage in the ratings of the test result by not using the assigned pen or not keeping to the test guidelines.)

When filling out listening/reading answer sheets, use the bold tip of the double-sided pen. Choose

only one correct answer for each question and shade " " in the concerned number. (test takers are● solely responsible for any disadvantage in marking imprecisely)

When filling out writing answer sheet, use the fine tip of the double-sided pen to write down the

answers in the designated column of the answer sheet. Scores will not be given if the answer is written out of the column. To make any changes for short answer questions, cross out the incorrect answer or use a correction tape. Test takers can raise their hands quietly to request for a correction tape.

Test takers are allowed to use their own correction tapes, however they are solely responsible for

any problem caused by correcting answers.

Test takers are allowed to request for a new answer sheet if the wrong answers were shaded.

The answer sheet must be submitted within the examination hour even if it is not completed. Test

takers are not allowed to make any changes on the answer sheet after the end of test bell rings.

The concerned test results of the test takers may be invalid if they do not follow the given instructions and continue to mark the answers even when the test ends.

When the test has ended, the test takers must leave their pens. Question and answer sheets are put

in the place where the proctor has designated. Afterwards, the test takers put their hands underneath the desk and wait for proctors’ directions.

Test takers cannot leave the test room until the direction is given from the test proctor even if the

test is over. Question and answer sheets which have been used must be submitted.

Distributing TOPIK questions without permission is prohibited

TOPIK questions are creative works of exam writers, therefore it is prohibited by law to distribute,

copy, or leak TOPIK questions without the permission of the copyright holder. If this is violated, then it can be punished as a criminal/civil case and the test taker should be disqualified from taking the TOPIK for 2 years according to the <Regulations on handling cheaters in TOPIK>.

Prohibited Items to Test Venue

Test takers must submit prohibited items such as any kind of electronic devices-which must be

turned off- such as mobile phones, smart-bands, Bluetooth devices, wrist watches, cameras, etc to the proctor before the 1st period.

If a sound occurred from the list of prohibited items, or those items were possessed by the test taker

during the test, the case will be handled according to the <Regulations on handling cheaters in TOPIK>

<List of Prohibited Items>

- All electronic devices, such as mobile phone, digital camera, MP3, electronic dictionary, camera pen, electronic calculator, radio, mobile media player, watch with the functions other than displaying the time, etc.

- EVERY MOBILE PHONE SHOULD BE SUBMITTED AFTER BEING TURNED OFF.

Example Types of Cheating punishment

·Refusing to request of identity verification and inspection of personal belongings

·Continuing filling out the answer sheet after the bell has rung

·Sneaking or trying to sneak at others’ answer sheets

·Making any sound or vibrating on submitted electronic devices

·Refusing to comply with proctor’s instruction, which is necessary for a fair administration of test

·Disturbing management of the test in a serious degree

·Possessing or using electronic devices

·Looking at, or trying to look at any banned items

·Signaling with other test takers such as exchanging answers, messages, hand motions, sounds, etc

·Using violence, forcing, or threatening others to show answers

·Leaking or distributing test questions and answers

·Entering the test with fake ID or documents

·Conducting counterfeit or falsification of score report
