❖ We are pleased to inform you of the opening of the 20th International Conference of Korean Educators Abroad 2022, which the Korean Ministry of Education will host and the International Korean Education Foundation will organize. We look forward to the active participation of many Korean educators and education administrators abroad in this event.

○ A Hybrid Conference for Both Online & Offline Attendees
※ May be fully online if the COVID-19 situation and the regulations of the government of the Republic of Korea require it.

- Professional Training : Customized training sessions for Korean language teachers at primary and secondary schools abroad
▴ Eligible Participants: Korean language teachers at overseas primary and secondary schools & Korean Education Institutes
▴ Programs: Customized training sessions for capacity-building of Korean language educators
- Methods to utilize Korean language teaching materials at overseas primary and secondary schools
- Opinion gathering for the development of Korean language textbooks customized for local teachers and students
- Teaching methods utilizing videos and multimedia materials
- Policy Training : A Korean language education policy training program designed for government officials and education administrators (i.e. those who work at the provincial offices of education, schools, and Korean Education Institutes)
▴ Eligible Participants : Heads of overseas Korean Education Institutes and education administrators in charge of Korean language education abroad
▴ Program
- (Education Policy) On the present and the future of Korean education for primary and secondary schools abroad
- (Gathering Opinions) To discuss the development and application of the nationally customized textbooks for primary and secondary schools abroad
- (Cultural Understanding) To facilitate the understanding of Korea through the development of textbooks by using Korean history, culture and Hallyu ("The Korean Wave") content

• Officials in charge of Korean language education in Korean Education Institutes, universities, Offices of Education, and education administrative institutions
• Officials from the ministries of education in counterpart countries
Participants
• College professors or instructors with Korean (language) course
• Korean teachers in primary and secondary schools abroad.
• Instructors in Korean Education Institutes overseas.
• Teachers in Japanese Minzoku Gakkyu or Korean-Chinese school
• Heads of schools whose schools provide Korean language classes.
• Officials of the Offices of Education in counterpart countries which adopted Korean language as a second foreign language or have plans to do so.
• Officials in charge of promotion of Korean language in diplomatic missions abroad.
• Officials from the ministries of education in counterpart countries who can discuss the possibility of adopting Korean language as a second foreign language
Criteriafor recommendation
• A person whose attitude/passion sets an example for others and who can provide propagation education to local teachers after training;
• A person with an excellent track record in Korean language education career
• Education administrators who are influential in the adoption of Korean language education in schools outside of Korea will be recommended on priority
• Senior officials who have the authority over the adoption of second foreign languages will be recommended on priority
• Officials who can discuss the adoption of Korean language education as a second foreign language
※ Participation excluded for
- Teachers of weekend Korean language schools and private language institutes - Local recruitment and dispatch teachers at overseas Korean schools
□ Eligibility for Application
○ Compulsory Requirement: Participants must satisfy all self-quarantine exemption conditions for overseas entrants by the application date
< Self-quarantine exemption conditions for overseas entrants (’22.5.23.) >
①Those who have completed the booster vaccination (3rd dose) or those within 180 days after the second dose of vaccination
②Those whose PCR test results within 48 hours before entering the country are negative, or rapid antigen test (RAT) results within 24 hours are negative
○ On Priority: Recipients for commendation for spreading the Korean language abroad in 2022 and those who participated in the 18th (2020) and 19th (2021) International Conference and prepared exemplary participation report in the said conference will be recommended on priority.
○ Eligibility Criteria for Application

○ Round-trip Airfare
※ Subsidy amount may be adjusted due to soaring airfare owing to COVID-19.
○ Food & Housing
- Housing : A single room will be provided for each individual to prevent the spread of COVID-19
- Food : Three meals a day will be provided during the conference period. ※ Any other individual travel expenses will not be covered.
○ Travel Insurance : Coverage is restricted to the duration of the conference
※ Out-of-pocket expenses will be required in the event of an accident or testing positive for an infectious disease due to personal negligence; invitees who are selected will be asked to sign an agreement.

○ Application
- The application should be sent to the Korean diplomatic offices or Korean Education Center in the country of residence by the deadline notified by the individual office.
- Application Documents : Application form(Curriculum vitae, Personal essay, Consent for the provision of personal information) / Certificate of employment / Proof of vaccination

- An official notification letter will be sent to the relevant diplomatic office, and to the selected applicants via their personal e-mail.
