Abstract Traffic accidents which make high impact on one’s life and property regardless of its scale, is one of the major issues in our society. As the number of registered vehicles has marked 20 million in 2016 and over 60% of total population possess driver’s license, the side effects such as traffic congestion and accidents became a serious public concern. Particularly, Daegu is one of the areas with most traffic accidents. Efforts to reduce traffic accidents have been made, however, the traditional method, which concentrates on establishment of traffic infrastructure, makes uneasy to expect high effectiveness compared to its expenses and returns high-cost with low-efficiency. In this paper, we perform areal analysis on locations of traffic accidents and analyze risk factors of traffic accidents by their types. The result showed the existence of areal cluster in traffic accidents occurred in Daegu. Also, the risk factor affecting the death or severe injury in traffic accidents was checked by statistical analysis.
