Changwon K-POP World Festival:
South Africa Regional Round
Dear K-Pop lovers in South Africa,
The Changwon K-POP World Festival is back in South Africa for 2022!!!
If you are chosen as a South African (Regional Round) winner for a performance or vocal, you will have a good chance of being invited to join the Final Round contest together with the winners of the other regional rounds in September, subject to Semi-Final selection by the Korean
Broadcasting System (KBS) to be announced in August/September. Please note that your song of choice should be the same song you will perform at the final round.
1. Date
Application Deadline: 17 May 2022
South Africa Regional Round in Pretoria: 28 May 2022
※ Semi-final : Video screening in Korea during July/August 2022
Final Round in Changwon, Korea: September 2022
2. Venue & Time for the Regional Round:
Menyln Barnyard Theatre, Pretoria: 10h00 - Registration time: 08h30
3. Categories
A. Vocal : All category “A” performers should use an instrumental version for their performance.
B. Cover dance :
Number of applicants should not exceed the number of the actual K-Pop group.
Recommended to have a same number of actual K-Pop group.
*Applicants are required to submit music (mp3 file) that they will perform on the day together with the completed application form to the Korean Embassy.

4. Rules
Applicants must be non-Korean (if you or both of your parents have ever held Korean citizenship, you will not qualify for the contest).
Any entry apart from K-POP will not be allowed. (song must be in KOREAN).
Participants can participate in both Vocal and Cover Dance, but only 1 application is allowed in each category. (e.g. not allowed to participate in Cover dance in solo AND group at the same time).
The number of applicants vocal/cover dance should not exceed the actual number of the original group/solo. (The members appearing in your regional round must be the same members appearing during the final performance in Changwon).
The K-Pop song performed during the regional round cannot be changed for the final round in Changwon.
Contestants under the age of 18 must submit their parents’ signed consent to participate in the finals and to travel overseas.
Media: By participating in the contest, participants agree and give their permission for the K-Pop World Festival staff to record, film, photograph, audiotape or videotape their performances, and to display, publish or distribute these works for publicity or advertising purposes.

1st Prize – R4,000 Voucher
2nd Prize – R3,000 Voucher
3rd Prize – R2,000 Voucher
B. Winners of categories “B”
1st Prize – R6,000 Voucher
2nd Prize – R5,000 Voucher
3rd Prize – R4,000 Voucher
※ South African regional preliminary will produce 1 vocal team and 2 cover dance team that will advance to the semifinals.
6. How to Participate
Get your crew together!
Submit music (mp3) of your performance with the application form.
