Kuwait, Ethiopia Deal on Domestic Workers – FM

Kuwait, Jan 21 (KUNA) – A joint Kuwaiti-Ethiopian Committee convened its inaugural meeting on Tuesday to hammer out a deal over the recruitment of domestic workers from the Sub-Saharan Africa nation, said Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry.

Kuwait’s Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs, Sami Al-Hamad led his country’s side amid the talks, attended by numerous state bodies, with Ethiopia’s ambassador to the Kuwait Abdulfattah Hassan also present.

National Assembly Approves FM’s Request to Discuss Neutral Zone Agreement

Kuwait, Jan 21 (KUNA) - - National Assembly agreed on Tuesday to discuss the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee report on the Neutral Zone agreement, during its complementary session on Wednesday upon a request by the Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah.

“According to Article (76) of the internal regulations of the National Assembly, I ask for the approval to urgently discuss the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee’s report on the Neutral Zone (divided) agreement on Wednesday”, Sheikh Dr. Nasser Al-Sabah said during the regular session of the Parliament Tuesday.

On his part, Speaker of the National Assembly, Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim suggested to discuss the report after the Parliament ends its discussions on the Amiri Speech.

He clarified that the request submitted by Sheikh Ahmad Al-Nasser comes in accordance with Article (76) of the National Assembly’s bylaws, which stipulate:

It is not permissible to discuss any topic that is not mentioned in the agenda except for urgent matters and under the provision of new issues, upon a request from the government, the Speaker, or a written request submitted by at least five members.

GCC States Political System Follows Tolerance Policy – Bahraini Official Bahraini Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Executive Director of Isa Cultural Center, Sheikh Khaled Al-Khalifa, said the political system in the GCC countries follows a tolerance policy making them distinct of many nations in the region.

This came in a statement to KUNA Tuesday, on the sidelines of his participation at the Civil Culture Forum organized by Women’s Institute for Development and Peace under the patronage of His Highness the Prime Minister, part of the events of the 26th Al-Qurain cultural festival.

Al-Khalifa, who is also Chairman of the Board of Trustees of King Hamad Global Center for Peaceful Co-existence in the Kingdom of Bahrain, said tolerance policy has made Gulf States distinct in the region, with accepting and respecting differences.

Kuwait Enjoys Growing Political Clout, Says Business Council

Kuwait, Jan 21 (KUNA) - - Kuwait wields much political and economic influence in the Middle East, said the Chief of a joint Arab and Ukrainian business council, pointing out that the European nation is eager for better trade ties with Kuwait.

Kuwait has established solid international relations thanks to the country’s diplomatic prowess, Dr. Imad Abualrab told KUNA amid a visit to Kuwait’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Tuesday.

Ukraine views Kuwait as a “Launchpad” for a possible foray into business in the region, added the official, revealing that Kuwait was the first Arab nation to open an embassy in Ukraine.

On Ukraine’s agricultural sector, he said that Kiev is the fourth largest exporter of corn and barely and the sixth largest exporter of wheat in the world.

On the council’s primary objective, he said it serves as an advisory for foreign investors in Ukraine, apprising them of the ample business opportunities that await them.

Mr. Abdul Wahab Al-Wazan, the 1st Deputy of the Chairman of Kuwait Chamber of Commerce said that Kuwaiti companies are looking forward to identify the available investment opportunities in Ukraine, the business environment and the privileges provided to foreign investors.

He expressed the Chamber’s readiness to cooperate with the Embassy of Ukraine in order to achieve the mutual economic objectives.

“ Kuwaiti-Ukraine relations have developed significantly since their outset in 1993 due to the efforts of the governments of both countries, which culminated by inking the two agreements of double taxation avoidance and protection of mutual investments”, said Al-Wazaan during reception of Ukraine’s economic delegation yesterday headed by Dr. Oleksandr Balanutsa, ambassador of Ukraine to the State of Kuwait as well as the attendance of Dr. Nimr Al-Sabah, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil, a number of the board of the directors of

Kuwait’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry and representatives of Kuwaiti corporations on the sidelines of the Ukrainian week in Kuwait.

The volume of mutual trade between the two countries reached $ 32 mln in 2018, he added confirming that it is necessary to enhance bilateral relations between Kuwait and Ukraine.

He pointed out that Ukraine has a great opportunity to work and cooperate with the Arab World as there are many serious Arab investors, who are concerned with cooperation with it in 3 main fields, including Agriculture such as organic agriculture and techniques, especially solar energy projects, real estate, business centers, health centers and hotels.

Aseeri’s Grill Involves Actions Taken After Becoming Minister – MP Al- Damkhi

Kuwait, Jan 20 (KUNA) - - MP Dr. Adel Al-Damkhi said his grilling of Minister of Social Affairs, Dr. Ghadeer Aseeri is constitutional, regarding her statements and actions after she became minister.

The remarks came during his speech at the National Assembly’s session on Tuesday, while discussing the articles of interpellation.

The grilling involves tasks assigned to Aseeri, including executing the government’s general policy, according to article 58 of the Constitution, Al- Damkhi said.

The MP also denied allegations that he is grilling Aseeri for actions and statements she made prior to becoming minister.

Al-Damkhi said Aseeri lost practical credibility and is not paying enough attention to the importance of cooperation between the executive and legislative authorities.
