EXPORT - IMPORT
- Viet Nam-Canada trade turnover in the first quarter of 2016 reached US$928.97 million, a year-on-year increase of 11.8%. Viet Nam's imports from Canada attained US$92.9 million, down 38.7% while its exports to the country hit US$836.1 million, up 23%. Viet Nam, thus, enjoyed a trade surplus of US$743.2 million. - China remained the biggest exporter of goods to Vietnam during the five months, posting a turnover of 19.2 billion USD, dropping by 2.9 percent annually.

FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT (FDI)
- Foreign direct investment (FDI) in HCM City has fallen 38% year-on-year since the beginning of this year, according to the city's Statistics Office. As of the middle of May, the office reported total FDI of approximately 650 million USD. FDI poured into HCM City, however, was expected to increase at the end of this year.

VIETNAM’S RECENT ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
- Three Vietnamese domestic banks were named in the 14th annual Global 2000 list, which ranks the biggest, most powerful and most valuable companies in the world. US$880 million to Việt Nam’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) from 2011 to 2015, according to a new report released by Moody’s Analytics.

- -A Japanese electronic spare part manufacturing factory was inaugurated in the central province of Quang Ngai on June 5. The plant, which has a registered capital of 10 million USD, is able to produce 132 million electronic units per year. It is expected to generate job for nearly 3,000 workers, and help increase the local export turnover. - The tour operator Vietravel has coordinated with
other local airlines to launch two new direct flights from Ho Chi Minh city to Sihanoukville (Cambodia) and from Vinh city to Bangkok (Thailand).
