The World Journal of Men’s Health Has Been Accepted for Coverage in Science Citation Index (SCI) Expanded

Dae Yul Yang

President of the Korean Society for Sexual Medicine and Andrology; Department of Urology, Hallym University Medical Center, Seoul, Korea

On June 28, 2017, the World Journal of Men’s Health (WJMH) was notified by the Web of Science/Clarivate Analytics that it has been accepted for coverage in the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE). WJMH was listed in the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) in April 2016.

WJMH was first published in 1982 as the Korean Journal of Andrology. To increase its international recognition, in August 2012, the journal was renamed the World Journal of Men’s Health (print ISSN 2287-4208; online ISSN 2287-4690). The abbreviated journal name is World J Mens Health.

WJMH is the official English-language journal of the Korean Society for Sexual Medicine and Andrology. It also serves jointly as the official journal of the Asia Pacific Society for Men’s Health and Aging, and the Korean Society for Men’s Health and Aging.

WJMH’s editorial board presently includes well-known researchers from around the world in the field of men’s health. The editorial board has 14 members from Korea, 7 from the United States, 3 from Japan, 2 from China, and 1 each from Taiwan, Australia, Italy, Israel, and Spain.

Consultants in biostatistics and medical ethics joined the editorial board to improve the journal’s quality.

As society has aged, social interest in elderly men’s

health has increased. Chronic diseases such as metabolic syndrome, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, and hypertension are common in older men and are associated with con- ditions such as sexual dysfunction, ejaculatory disorder, prostate diseases, voiding difficulties, and depression. To improve men’s health, it is vital to communicate and ex- change ideas in various disciplines. WJMH seeks to be- come a platform for researchers in different fields of men’s health to share their latest knowledge and discoveries.

We are very excited that WJMH is now officially recog- nized by the SCIE and Clarivate Analytics. We would like to thank Clarivate Analytics for granting us this prized op- portunity and recognizing the value of WJMH. We con- gratulate and commend WJMH’s editorial board members and staff for their great accomplishment. We also thank the authors for contributing their excellent work and the reviewers for sharing their professional insight in their fields.

We think today’s achievement is not an end but a beginning. We will strive for success in the future and do our best to become a leading journal in men’s health and andrology.
