This year, we have an opportunity to change that. Let’s close loopholes so we stop rewarding companies that keep profits abroad, and reward those that invest here in America. (Applause.) Let’s use those savings to rebuild our infrastructure and to make it more attractive for companies to bring jobs home.
올해는 그런 상황을 바꿀 수 있습니다. 법의 허점을 막아 수익을 해외로 빼돌리는 기업에 대한 보상을 하지 말고 미국내에 투자하는 기업을 도울 것입니다. 그래서 남은 재원으로 인프라를 재 건설하고 기업이 국내에서 일자리를 창출할 수 있도록 합시다.
Let’s simplify the system and let a small business owner file based on her actual bank statement, instead of the number of accountants she can afford. (Applause.) And let’s close the loopholes that lead to inequality by allowing the top one percent to avoid paying taxes on their accumulated wealth. We can use that money to help more families pay for childcare and send their kids to college. We need a tax code that truly helps working Americans trying to get a leg up in the new economy, and we can achieve that together. (Applause.) We can achieve it together.
세제를 간소화하여 중소기업이 고용할 수 있는 회계사 수가 아닌 실제 은행 거래명세서에 근거해 서 세금을 낼 수 있도록 합시다. 그리고 법망의 허점을 막아 최고 1% 고소득층이 축적된 부에 대 한 세금을 내지 않는 불공평한 현실을 개선합시다. (* 개선하자는 의미의 단어는 없지만 결국 허 점을 막는다는 뜻은 개선의 의미이다.) 그리하여 남은 돈으로 아동보육이나 자녀의 대학교육비를 지원할 수 있습니다. 중산층 미국민이 신경제에 적응하도록 도움을 주는 세법이 필요합니다. 함께 협력한다면 그런 세법을 마련할 수 있습니다. 함께 한다면 말입니다.
Helping hardworking families make ends meet. Giving them the tools they need for good-paying jobs in this new economy. Maintaining the conditions of growth and competitiveness. This is where America needs to go. I believe it’s where the American people want to go. It will make our economy stronger a year from now, 15 years from now, and deep into the century ahead.
중산층 시민이 생계를 꾸려가도록 돕는 것. 신경제에서 좋은 일자리를 얻는데 필요한 도구를 제 공하는 것. 경제 성장의 조건을 유지하고 경쟁력을 확보하는 것. 이런 것들이 바로 미국이 할 일

입니다. 미국 시민 여러분도 그것을 원할 것입니다. 그렇게 하면 앞으로 일년 후, 15년 후 아니 100년 후에도 우리 경제가 건실 할 것입니다.
Of course, if there’s one thing this new century has taught us, it’s that we cannot separate our work here at home from challenges beyond our shores.
물론 금세기 들어 우리가 얻은 교훈이 한가지 있다면 우리는 국내상황과 해외문제를 구분해서 별 개로 취급할 수 없다는 사실입니다.
My first duty as Commander-in-Chief is to defend the United States of America. In doing so, the question is not whether America leads in the world, but how. When we make rash decisions, reacting to the headlines instead of using our heads; when the first response to a challenge is to send in our military -- then we risk getting drawn into unnecessary conflicts, and neglect the broader strategy we need for a safer, more prosperous world. That’s what our enemies want us to do.
국군통수권자로서 저의 일차적 의무는 미국을 방어하는 것입니다. 그렇게 하는데 있어서 문제는 미국이 세계를 리드해야 하느냐 마느냐가 아니라 어떻게 리드하느냐 하는 것입니다. 미국이 성급 한 결정을 내리고 머리를 쓰는 대신 여론에 휘둘리며 문제가 발생하면 군대부터 투입한다면 우리 는 불필요한 분쟁에 휘말릴 수 있고 세계의 안전과 번영을 위해 필요한 더 원대한 전략을 간과할 위험이 있습니다. 그것은 바로 우리의 적이 원하는 바입니다.
I believe in a smarter kind of American leadership. We lead best when we combine military power with strong diplomacy; when we leverage our power with coalition building; when we don’t let our fears blind us to the opportunities that this new century presents. That’s exactly what we’
re doing right now. And around the globe, it is making a difference.
본인은 미국이 좀더 현명하게 세계를 리드해야 한다고 믿습니다. 그러기 위해서는 군사력과 외교 력을 결합해야 합니다. 우리의 국력뿐 아니라 연합세력 구축해야 합니다. 두려움 때문에 새로운 시대가 요구하는 기회를 놓쳐서는 안됩니다. 미국은 현재 바로 그러한 현명한 정책을 펴고 있으 며 전세계에서 그 효과가 나타나고 있습니다.
First, we stand united with people around the world who have been targeted by terrorists -- from a school in Pakistan to the streets of Paris. (Applause.) We will continue to hunt down terrorists

and dismantle their networks, and we reserve the right to act unilaterally, as we have done relentlessly since I took office to take out terrorists who pose a direct threat to us and our allies. (Applause.)
우선, 우리는 세계적으로 테러분자들의 공격 대상이 된 사람들과 협력하고 있습니다. 파키스탄의 학교부터 파리 시내에 이르기 까지 도처에 있는 사람들 말입니다. At the same time, we’ve learned some costly lessons over the last 13 years. Instead of Americans patrolling the valleys of Afghanistan, we’ve trained their security forces, who have now taken the lead, and we’ve honored our troops’ sacrifice by supporting that country’s first democratic transition. Instead of sending large ground forces overseas, we’re partnering with nations from South Asia to North Africa to deny safe haven to terrorists who threaten America.

In Iraq and Syria, American leadership -- including our military power -- is stopping ISIL’s advance. Instead of getting dragged into another ground war in the Middle East, we are leading a broad coalition, including Arab nations, to degrade and ultimately destroy this terrorist group. (Applause.) We’re also supporting a moderate opposition in Syria that can help us in this effort, and assisting people everywhere who stand up to the bankrupt ideology of violent extremism.
이라크와 시리아에서 미국은 군사력등을 동원해 ISIS의 활동을 저지하고 있읍니다. 중동에서 또 다른 지상전에 휘말리지 않고 아랍권 국가들을 포함한 연합세력을 조직해서 테러단체를 약화시키 고 결국 퇴치시킬 것입니다. 우리는 또한 이러한 노력에 동참할 수 있는 시리아의 온건 반체제 인사들을 지원하고 있으며 극단적 폭력주의 이데올로기에 반대하는 전세계 사람들을 지원하고 있 습니다.
