Overview
A key commercial family in Qatar, Al Attiya Motors was founded in 1972 as a dealer of Renault Trucks by the Al Attiya Family patriarch Brigadier Mohammed Al Attiya. As a matter of interest, the very first KIA car was exported to Qatar in 1979.
AMTC became the KIA agent in 1986. AMTC is also the agent
for Renault Trucks, Firestone, ENOC and Valvoline.
Overview
KIA has grown from a very small operation to one of the top 5 car dealers out of 20 car companies of a similar class.
The new modern flagship show room on Rayyan road was just opened in 2010 and the Salwa show room is being upgraded to meet the new KIA CI.
A completely new service center complex is slated for
operation in 2014 while the existing facility is being
modernized.
Company Statistics
AMTC has over 300 employees working in three divisions KIA MOTORS, Renault Trucks and TBA (Tires Batteries and Accessories).
KIA MOTORS represents the most important division with 80% of the staff and the greatest dedicated working assets.
The growth rate of the company is approximately 10% per year with an expected number of peak growth periods during the years prior to the World Cup.
General Market Conditions
Due to the recent economic crashes in the region, Qatari companies are taking a more conservative stance by downsizing or cancelling some of the ambitious real estate projects. The mood is more conservative which has translated into better sales for the small more affordable cars but has resulted in difficult sales for the higher end cars that are not part of the premium brands.
The World Cup Effect has helped to prop up the mood and increase the expectations of increased economic activity, however, there is still a wait and see attitude that will dampen sales unless there are clear progress indicators.

One of the attractive potentials is leasing, which is one of the
areas that AMTC is making preparations to take advantage of
many companies who are looking to enter this market to offers
products and services related to the World Cup preparations.

Our strategy for gaining market share focuses on the three main elements of a sound business model. Marketing lays the foundation for the Sales efforts while quality After Sales Service retains and reinforces future loyalty to the brand.
The advertising and promotional campaigns will capitalize on KIA leading position as a Sports supporter targeting the progressive buyer. Taking the position of a brand leader will take a considerable amount of cleaver marketing to break the mental monopolies that certain brands have enjoyed in the Qatari market.
The same determination and effort that gained Qatar the World Cup is what AMTC will use to empower our increasing role as an avant-garde brand.
Asset Play
One way we intend to tackle the image evolution is through the employment of the new KIA CI and to offer a quality experience for our visitors.
The Rayyan flagship showroom is a theater with the main protagonists as the young and fresh KIA models.
The support features we employ are the KIA CAFE and KIA Village play unit.
Parents love to enjoy a beverage while their children play for a moment or two. It is much easier to make BUY decisions when the children and parents are happy.
Time Line
With so many long term projects in the pipeline AMTC will have to project itself well into the future in order to meet the new challenges that so much in country development will bring. We anticipate that Qatar due to its solid resources and international following by major investors and a strong energy customer base that a high rate of growth will be sustainable over the next 10 years.

infrastructure such as show rooms, a new service center and
satellite sales centers.
