The Ministry of Strategy and Finance will host the OECD International Fiscal Forum at the COEX convention center on July 1-2, cosponsored by the OECD Secretariat and KIPF (Korea Institute of Public Finance). Budget officers from major OECD countries, representatives from international organizations, and experts from home and abroad will be participating in the forum titled “Countering the Crisis and Rebuilding for the Future”.
Key speakers and discussions are as follows:
- Korea’s Finance Minister, Yoon Jeung-hyun will give an opening address.
- Chairman of OECD SBO (Senior Budget Official), Gerhard Steger and other budget officers from major OECD countries will present the cases of fiscal policies in their countries.
- Representatives of international organizations, the OECD, IMF, WB, IDB (Inter-American Development Bank), and ECLAC (Economic Commission for Latin America & Carribean), will give suggestions on the role of government finance and how to keep healthy fiscal conditions.
- Thomas J. Byrne with Moody’s will talk about how policies to tackle the crisis affect the national credit rating.
- Scholars studying government finance, Allen Shick with Maryland University among others, tax researchers, and experts from KDI and major academic societies will participate in discussions to share their academic views and offer suggestions.
