REMARKS OF H.E. CHO JUNE-HYUCK
AMBASSADOR OF THE REPUBLIC OF KOREA TO CAMEROON
ON THE OCCASION OF THE GROUND BREAKING CEREMONY OF THE NATIONAL MEDICO-
EMERGENCY CENTER IN YAOUNDE
CENTRAL HOSPITAL, YAOUNDE JANUARY 18, 2012
……….
- His Excellency Philemon YANG, Prime Minister
- His Excellency Andre MAMA FOUDA, Minister of Public Health
- Distinguished Guests, - Ladies and Gentlemen,
It’s a great pleasure and honor for me to welcome you on this groundbreaking ceremony of a national medico-surgical emergency center in Yaounde. Firstly, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for your presence
Today national medico-surgical emergency center in Yaounde breaks ground with goals of improving access and the quality of emergency care service for the Cameroonian. It will support Cameroon government’s endeavor to strengthen public health care system with qualified health facilities and advanced expertise. This ceremony is very meaningful to us because this emergency center is the first fruit from our cooperation since the Korean Embassy reopened in 2008. And I believe this initiative will be a firm foundation for us to build strong relations down the road.
We have spent many months compiling statistics, meeting with public health expertise, studying an effect of this project to make it successfully delivered. Of course, it was not easy task. However considering the Korean government’s priority on Cameroon and importance of the project, Ministry of Public Health and KOICA have tried harder, and now we are here.
- Excellencies, Distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen,
The construction of emergency center and provision of medical equipment will be completed by January, 2013. This project includes not only hardware support of the facility but also software support such as on-site training, dispatching of Korean experts and so on. We expect the Emergency Center will be a catalyst to achieve the Millennium Development Goals regarding health issues. It will help the people to access public health care more easily so that Cameroonian people’s health condition and life expectancy will be improved.
The Korean Government has been planning to expand its cooperation more with the Cameroonian government. For Cameroon’s agriculture revolution, a rice cultivation project has already started. And the delivery ceremony of agricultural machinery will take place next week. The groundbreaking ceremony of three Advanced Vocational Training Centers will be held in coming days. Groundbreaking means new beginning. These beginnings are precious seeds for hopeful future of dynamic relations between the two countries. I hope the seeds will bear precious fruits in the future.
I would like to take this opportunity to extend my deep appreciation to the Cameroon Government for the part it played to lay the groundwork for this project’s take-off.
Thank you for your attention.
