1.

In order to ^meet the growing passenger and freight transport demand, Govemment of Nepal has long felt the necessity of development of railway as an alternative land hansport mode for faster and cheaper movement of freight and passenger traffic' In pursuance to the objective, GoN through consultants has completed the Detailed Project Report for constructing ^proposed new Railway lines

in

Nepal

which

include Bardibas- Simara, Simara

-

Tdmsariya and Tamsariya - Butwal of Mechi-Mahakali Railway (945lrn). ^{Recently the} final report presentation

for

Simara - Tamsariya took place. The cost of this section found to be at higher side ^due to mitigatiofl measures adopted

while

encompassing ^Parsa

Wildlife

Reserve (PWR) and Chitwan National Park (CNP). There were suggestions to avoid crossing of PWR and CNP due to world heritage site ^and preservation of endangered species.

2. Ministry of

Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Government of Nepal hence plans to conduct Feasibility Study of Nijgadh- Hetauda -Bharatpur Electrified Railway Line

with

a

view to introduce high speed

rail

system. Budget for this work has already been allocated - in this F.Y.20711072.

3.

The objective of the assignment shall ^be to conduct Feasibility studies, prepare preliminary Cost Estimate and recommend best technical, financial and economical alignment. The

duration of the consultant's servipes is estimated to be twelve (12)

months.

4.

Expected date of commencement of the assignment is ^Jan 2015.

services. Interested Consultants must provide information indicating that they ^are qualified ls.perform the services, consultants may ^associate to enhance their qualifications and are encouraged to make association with the local Nepalese consultants.

of Nepalese consultant with international consultants will not be

^accepted.

6.

Consultants

will

be selected in accordance with the procedures ^set out in the Procurement Act2063 (2007) ^and Procurement Rules 2064 (2007).

7.

The Consultant ^and its team dhall possess significant knowledge ^and proven experience

in

the planning and design of electrical Railway ^systems, their operations and implementafion

order to determine the capability and experience of the consulting firms seeking to be short listed, the information submitted should include the following:

Company profi le, organization.

Annual turnover for consecutive five ^years ending2013.

experience

similar assignments undertaken

in

the previous

five

years.

Details of work

- Information regarding related professional staff and their field of

expertise.
